We stayed 4 nights in a cabana and absolutely loved it. It's situated a bit out of town (arrive before sunset) but is therefore super calm and relaxing. The cabanas are spacious, the beds comfortable and there's an electric heating for the freezingly cold nights. WiFi is a bit weak and inconsistent, but there's plenty of other things to do than surfing. We had hot water (gas) most of the times. There're lamas walking around in the garden, which we liked a lot:) Pedro and his family took care of everything and made us feel comfortable, I really hope they get payed accordingly. |Putre is a small town with just a few touristic restaurants and small shops, but a perfect base for daytrips in the national parks Lauca and/or Vicuñas (we can recommend 'Parinacota Trek'). You probably won't see any other tourist in these parks. There's a reliable ATM in the 'center' and daily connections to...
Read moreI had one night here after having stayed two at Terrace Lodge. You don't expect five star comfort in a small town in the Andes and the cabins were basic. They were however clean and spacious. the shower was adequate at best. The main reason for such a low rating is the attitude of the man running the place. He couldn't have been more miserable if he'd tried. And the breakfast was also poor; you could have used the stale bread as a weapon - it was so hard. I have no idea how so many reviews talk about the friendliness and the good breakfast. In over three weeks throughout Chile, this was the worst host and the worst breakfast. Maybe the regular people were away. You'd also want a vehicle staying here as the walk to town isn't great if doing it at night. Although the accommodation may have been a bit smaller at Terrace Lodge, the welcome and the breakfast were on a different level...
Read moreWe stayed in a cabin in the Chakana Mountain Lodge for 5 nights. It's located about a kilometer outside of town. The views are magnificent. Our cabin was clean and comfortable. We had a heater which we used. There was hot water. The beds were comfortable. There is a kitchen area which you can use with a refrigerator to store your items. Juan Carlos, the manager, was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. We didn't have a car , so it was a challenge to haul luggage to the lodge. If you have a car, it's the perfect place to stay. If you don't have a car, it would be advisable to arrange transportation with them. They also helped us to arrange tours with Cali Tours, which I...
