Generic: Wow, wow, wow, this is truly a hidden gem of B&B's around the world. The owners are truly one of the most hospitable which I don't think you can get anywhere even at 6* hotels. Was received with open arms and immediately made welcomed not as guests but as friends. ||When I informed them that this was our first time in the area and no idea of any of the main attractions, they arranged that after we settle down to go over the attractions in the garden. Was provided with all needed information (maps, brochures), even tips on the weather for the best time to visit these places.||Rooms: Basic, but sufficient for a good rest. Was provided with a standing fan which was more than sufficient since differences in day and night temperatures in the area is big. ||Breakfast: Continental type, but more Chilean with some chilean bread and cakes. Sufficient to last the morning.||Best point: There was a garden where you can sit in the evening to have a nice drink or just to relax. ||Surrounding area: San Esteban itself is small, but within a short drive, Los Andes can be reached and the whole area is filled with small interesting historical cities and wineyards of the Aconcagua valley. It is about 1 hours drive from the only route over to Argentina, but worth the drive up the Andes mountains for the view. A very interesting area without the crowd.||I will surely return to this place if I ever visit this place again. A...
Read moreThis is a delightful Country hotel without pretension. We had a great stay here, nonetheless as the people are so lovely and friendly. Our first morning we were visisted at breakfast by a translator who proceeded to describe how to get to San Esteban winery, the Petroglyphs and Lake Parilla, which is adjacent to the Argentine border. ||Our breakfast included instant coffee, yoghurt, cereal, pan with ham, cake and jam. We were offered more of everything but we needed no more. The restaurant we visited the second evening at their recommendation was excellent. We had a friendly reception at the winery. ||There is wardrobe hanging space, a TV which we did not use and the wifi worked well. Our bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Certainly there could be some improvements done to the bathrooms, but the price we paid was inexpensive and we felt happy and warmly welcome throughout our stay. ||The location was convenient for us as we wished to head north from Santiago and we had had a long series of flights from Perth. We were very satisfied...
Read moreFriendly is THE word for the people who run this modest hotel just outside of Los Andes, Chile, and less than two hours from Santiago. With a small garden area and small but clean and adequately equipped rooms, wifi, and its location in a tiny town, it's the kind of place you are more likely to spend the night in, than hang around in all day. We appreciated the complimentary local beer and wine, as well as the $45 price. For that rate, one can't expect too much, but it would have been nice to have real coffee instead of powdered at breakfast, and maybe also some fresh fruit. Beware that although the hotel is on a fairly important local street, it's hard to find. Googlemaps did not help. We spent a good half hour driving around asking people for directions and no one knew where it was! (We speak Spanish and even that...
