The property looks photogenic online and first impressions are good. However, on arrival it quickly becomes clear that this hotel is simply an afterthought attached to a seemingly highly successful vineyard. The rooms are not well furnished, with creaky short beds, excessive heat that cannot be controlled individually by guests and bathrooms that are in serious need of investment. The bathrooms are dark, poorly maintained and unpleasant to use. The communal areas present well, but when actually sat in them it is apparent that the furniture is tired and dirty. The sofas near the fireplace are dirty and black through lack of cleaning. The breakfast is served in a small separate room and is in no way of a quality that reflects the price paid. The 'wine bar' is a strange experience. On our first evening there we were the only people dining and the waiter spent most of the evening stood with his back to us watching football on a giant tv - this was not only highly unprofessional but also rude. The food is over priced and very poor in quality. The presentation of the food and the wine bar itself is like something from 1980s Europe. The second night my vegetarian partner was served a meal with meat in it when there was no reference whatsoever to meat on the menu. The wine tour is enjoyable and the guide was good in her role. This 'hotel' needs a serious rethink and would benefit from the presence on an effective manager. The quality of the hotel IN NO WAY reflects the price charged. We have stayed in stunning hotel rooms in global capital cities for a fraction of the price paid for the room here. This hotel does not, in our opinion offer value for money. We would not stay here again nor recommend it to anybody else. The hotel did not feel secure. The site appeared poorly staffed overnight and the the building was accessed via an open driveway. Inside, there was easy access to the communal areas of the hotel for people to wander in. The rooms were locked by a single yale key and the doors were flimsy and not sealed. Sound proofing in this hotel is an issue and we could clearly here people in other parts of the building talking and moving around. There was no safe in the room nor were we instructed as to how we could store our valuable items safely. At night, we felt left alone in the building and it would appear there was little in the way of a staffing...
Read moreThis may be the nicest place I have every stayed. If a ten rating were available, I would give it to Casa Silva. The Silva family hacienda has been turned into a B&B. The hacienda is in the colonial style with rooms surrounding a central courtyard. The very large bedrooms have been decorated in antiques with beautiful bedding and draperies. Communal rooms include a living room, game room, breakfast room and main dining rooms. The main dining room is off a barrel room. The estate is adjacent to one of the Casa Silva Vineyards. When we arrived, we were whisked off to the vineyard for an amazing lunch, allowed/encouraged to walk home through the vineyard and then booked for dinner. Service was attentive and personal. We relaxed by the living room fire after dinner. It...
Read moreLovely boutique hotel that used to be the home of the Silva family (who has been managing their Siva wine estate for generations). It is also one of the oldest and most famous label of the Colchagua Valley.||There are only a few rooms greatly decorated and with a very cosy atmosphere in both the rooms and common areas (fireplaces, lovely courtyard, etc.). The dinner in the wine cellar facing all the barrels, was excellent. We got to experience the wine tour which was very interesting and we were impressed by the large production of the domain.||They also display a nice collection of old cars which belong to the owners! Not to be missed.||Finally, their buffet breakfast was also very good...
