Hotel Ontiveros is a decent hotel just outside downtown San Fernando. It's location is ideal as it's away from the freeway and is relatively quiet at night, yet it's close enough to a 5 min drive into the city. The grounds are well cared for, there is plenty of parking as well. The staff are friendly. The breakfast is pretty typical of a Chilean hotel with some cold cuts, some bread, instant coffee, limited cereal, some fruit and some pastries. They also make eggs to order. The restaurant is not part of the hotel but you can charge the meal to your room. The restaurant food is good, service is okay (average for Chile). They have several beers to choose from. There's a nice outdoor sitting area to eat in or to relax and enjoy a beverage. The bedroom is a little small (queen bed room) but there is adequate space for two pieces of luggage, there's a small desk. There is no clock in the room. The bathroom is nice, updated with nice marble-style tile.
Laundry services were good. Clothes are washed and and returned the next day.
I gave the hotel three stars because of varying reasons including: No air conditioning in the rooms. Carpet is old and of poor quality. No mini fridge in the room.
Overall, not a bad experience and Hotel Ontiveros is a...
Read moreAfter staying in some rather run down places along the way, this was a welcome relief. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable and the place was relatively quiet. The biggest problem we had was regulating the water in the shower (either too hot or too cold, hard to get it just right). Breakfast is to begin at 7 am but wasn't put out until nearly 7:30, but this seems fairly typical in Chile and most breakfasts don't even begin until 8 am. There's no restaurant in this small hotel, but you can buy soft drinks, beer and sandwiches for a few hours in the evening. However, it's easy to drive the short distance into town. Because I booked this through www.decarga.com I got a 35% discount, but they also charged the impuesto automatically and I couldn't convince the hotel to take it off our bill since it was a charge that they didn't handle. Otherwise, a fine place to stay that permitted us to drive into Santiago the following morning to return...
Read moreThis very new hotel is a located few km from San Fernando centre and offers comfortable, clean and quite rooms with queen bed and quite spacious bathroom with shower.||The hotel has 2 floors ( I would say not more than 10 rooms each) with wide common spaces at the ground floor for breakfast and maybe dinner ( at the moment the hotel does not serve meals but breakfast and sandwiches in the evening) ||At the moment it still have some problem that will be solved in the next future ( heating does not work properly in every room yet and credit cards will be accepted soon) but the staff is very friendly and they are really helpful in facing problems and making your staying as good as possible. ||Breakfast has to be improved a little bit on my opinion ( but I am sure they can satisfy any desire on request)||Parking space outside and free wi...
