|I was receiving unpleasant and rather aggressive messages from the owner after having left an honest review on booking.com (score: 3/5). Leaving an even more unpleasant feeling about holiday homes atacama soleil...||This was, as all my reviews, an honest review, outlining the pros:|-fresh bread in the morning, |-bath towels free of charge and, |-(an at that time) friendly owner. ||The less positive points I outlined as well: |- No view at all from our cottage (barely any windows).|- Noisy main road, next to cottage.|-Terrace not directly accessible from cottage. |- Currently constructing another cottage on the premises: which will take away an important part of the view when outside. ||The owner mentioned in his messages we should have rated him a 5 due to his kindness during our stay...|I do believe that fellow travellers deserve to read reviews that take all elements of an accommodation into account. (You don't want to end up staying somewhere where kindness is the main factor, but the accommodation itself is not meeting the expectations, do you?)||And sadly, kindness in this place appeared to go as far as the front door. ||I hope that others will not refrain from reporting any less positive points, due to our experience, in addition to positive points. As this honest reports is why we consult these sites.||Luckily other accommodations are more professional: considering feedback as an opportunity to improve...
Read moreThis house is owned by Philippe, originally from France, and his Chilean wife who live in the house next door. I can say that Philippe did everything possible to make our stay very enjoyable. The French bread and croissant for breakfast that other reviewers describe come from a French bakery in San Pedro and they are every bit as delicious as from a very good boulangerie in France. The house itself was clean and comfortable and well supplied with kitchenware and utilities. The balcony bedroom is open to the living/dining room but was nevertheless private and cosy and Philippe offered to carry suitcases up and down the narrow spiral staircase. We were given a lot of useful advice on places to visit and things to see which was very helpful. We were also given a welcome bottle of wine which was much appreciated. The main road south is close to the front of the house so there was indeed some noise from traffic, but it did not affect our sleep or appreciation of the house and environs. Wifi (halfway down the stairs by the window) was a bit flaky so needed to be reset periodically but otherwise worked well. Overall, we were impressed by the place and especially the hospitality, so would recommend it for those that have their...
Read moreWe had the fantastic chance recently to stay with Philippe at his hotel. He was just so super accommodating that my husband and I were constantly being amazed by him. On numerous occasions he picked us up from town and he and Viviana also drove us to the center of town. Our room was very spacious, very clean and with modern decorations. Phillippe and Viviana provided us bread, jam, cheese, and a very good welcoming bottle of wine. Outside was also very comfortable and relaxing. We were so impressed with Philippe’s graciousness. He offered to take us sightseeing when we did not have time to catch a specific excursion. Then when our bus to the airport was running very late, he offered to take us to the airport which was about 90 kms away. Our biggest regret was not staying for more than one night. We traveled for over 2 weeks on our trip and stayed in many different hotels. Because of Philippe’s warm and welcoming personality and our beautiful room, his hotel was our favorite hotel. We could not recommend it higher. Whenever we meet with friends and they ask about our trip we always bring up Philippe’s warm and welcoming personality and willingness to do whatever it took to please us. Philippe was the...
