One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The receptionist was so friendly and helpful, her kindness is definitely something to mention. She asked us if we needed something to eat before our excursion at 5am, since breakfast only opened later. She left bread for us so we had something to eat before the trip. She also prepared something to drink as a goodbye on the day we were leaving, and left us some bread again since our flight was early (before breakfast time). The hotel itself looks so charming, it has a beautiful architecture and it’s so calm and peaceful you can hear birds and owls. At night you can see a lot of stars in the sky since it’s a little bit far from downtown and away from the air pollution. Although it’s about 7 minutes by car from downtown I don’t regret it AT ALL!!! In downtown you can’t see the stars clearly, here you can! And they also have a telescope (I didn’t use because I was scared of breaking it lol) if you know how to use it. The woman who works in the breakfast was also so friendly!!! The rooms were amazingly cleaned and smelled so good! When we went it was cold at night, but every time we got back to our hotel the room was warm. All staff were amazing! They have taxi there, from the hotel to downtown (and from downtown to the hotel) costs 6000 pesos. You have direct contact with the taxi driver and in case he doesn’t answer you can always text the woman who works there and she will ask another taxi driver to go to you. One thing I have to mention is the road till the hotel.. since they don’t have any sign it can be a little bit difficult to locate the hotel, I would recommend them to put a bigger sign (they have a small one but at night it can be hard to see) on the road to the hotel so people have an easier time locating it. That was the only issue, but nothing serious. I would recommend it to everyone who goes to...

I had the most amazing stay at Lodge Quelana. One of the 3 accommodations with air con in Atacama, it is special. If you don't like 35° heat with 2% humidity with just a fan, this is a great place to shelter during the afternoon heat. it is located just out of town (8 mins drive) so you need a car unless you are happy to pay the small 6k CLP fee to get to town. The area is serene and beautiful though, with a viewing platform at night to stargazer. It is out of the noise and dusty bustle of the township so not as convenient if you want to just walk to everything... But I started to really enjoy having the space and quiet of these Lodge, spliced with the buzz of the town during my excursions. I struggled with the altitude and heat so this place was a godsend. Breakfast was lovely and variety was decent for the included meal. But The best thing about Lodge Quelana was the exemplar service. Best service I have ever received from a hotel from my travels worldwide, including cruises. Natalia in reception was so accommodating and extremely responsive, going the extra mile to make my stay even more relaxing, easy and amazing such as ordering me my taxis even when I was out in town and wanted to get back to the lodge, or making me a breakfast tray when I came back from a really morning day tour (at 1pm!), or being very generous with a late check out for me. The rooms and bed were large, extremely clean and comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and the little courtyard view from the shower a nice touch. I also liked having a small deck to read on the chair before it got too hot. Thankyou for being a luxurious and nurturing hotel in the desert, I really enjoyed my stay here! Would not hesitate to come back to lodge quelana if...

We had an amazing 5 days here - much thought obviously went into making the Quelana Lodge a luxurious yet "desert" stay. We were greeted warmly with a map and suggestions about how to get tickets to the multiple sights in Atacama. The room was perfect, quite beautifully decorated and the bed and couch very comfortable. The bathroom is spacious and lovely. Each room is like a little private cottage - one didn't see other guests except at breakfast or at the pool. There is a small fridge in the room with buyable drinks and snacks, and drinks are available on an honours system both in the multi-purpose room and in the pool area. Complimentary Coca tea at all hours - a great help with the effects of altitude change. It's terrific to cool off in the pool after a day exploring. There are spa services but we didn't use them. A quick drive into San Pedro for very good restaurants. I would stay here again and highly recommend it as the most beautiful and perhaps the most peaceful and relaxing place to stay...
