I would highly recommend staying at Estancia Cerro Guido if you are looking for a unique boutique luxury experience in Patagonia with unparalleled access to wildlife, activities both inside and outside the park that are either private or semi-private, a warm and friendly staff who goes out of their way for each of their 15 guest rooms, and truly impeccable food for every single meal, including the meals on excursions (who knew a hiking meal could taste good?!). Plus, it’s all included in your nightly rate! Unlike the other luxury accommodations in Patagonia, Estancia Cerro Guido is a working ranch. You’ll spend your meals eating Michelin-star quality food grown right in the gardens on site, from the livestock on the ranch, or locally sourced from nearby, while looking directly at the Torres del Paine national park with horses, sheep, and wild guanacos (Patagonian llamas) grazing right outside the windows. As far as service goes, Bryan and Luis, who work in the restaurant, made every meal we had at the estancia delightful. By the end of the first day we had spent there, they even knew all of the specific food and drink requests we had without us even asking. Diego, the bartender, made such amazing cocktails that we couldn’t help but order at least one with every meal. Due to the location, there was no shortage of wildlife for us to see, including wild horses, guanacos, condors, foxes, skunks, armadillos, and rheas. The hotel also has an emphasis on preservation and conservation which sets it apart from many of the other hotels in the region. As far as activities go, they have everything you could ask for. Kity and Pablo, who help manage coordinating activity booking and logistics, did the best job at making sure we were able to fit in every single activity we were excited about (and a few others we might not have initially thought of) despite some inclement weather that was totally out of their control. We were a bit nervous that being outside the park might reduce our options and enjoyment but it had nearly no impact on our access to the park and ability to see the things we wanted to see. We enjoyed a through tour of the property (including the operating sheep shearing building), hiked to the base of the towers, thoroughly toured the park (and got some phenomenal photos), and explored several parts of the private land owned by the hotel via horseback, hiking, and electric mountain bike. All of our guides were incredibly kind and knowledgeable and all of them have been guiding in Patagonia for years. In particular, Sebastian was a phenomenal guide who was not only incredibly knowledgeable about wildlife, geology, and history, but also incredibly patient and kind on our hikes. The rooms are all in beautiful historic buildings on the ranch that have been tastefully remodeled with all the modern luxuries you would expect. Housekeeping is thorough and somehow the room is always the perfect temperature after turndown service is completed. While you’ll feel off the grid, they also have full cell signal and WiFi all over the hotel if you need it. Every single member of the staff went out of their way to ensure we had a phenomenal trip, down to the smallest details. Pretty much the entire staff is fluent in English. Enrique who helps to manage the property was a warm and welcoming presence and never failed to check in whenever we entered the lobby / dining area. We feel so grateful for the opportunity to visit Estancia Cerro Guido and hope that you’ll book your stay there as well. We were truly devastated to leave at the end of our stay and would wholly recommend staying at Estancia Cerro Guido.

Our visit to Estancia Cerro Guido was a top highlight of our Argentina & Chile vacation. It is a fabulous place to base yourself for a visit to Torres Del Paine National Park. From the incredible staff, the truly amazing food-what a garden!, the well-appointed rooms, and unrivaled views, I really think you can’t go wrong choosing Cerro Guido. The number of different activities you can do through the ranch’s excursions or your own choices is vast. I will say upfront that the majority of our time exploring during our stay was with a private guide we arranged to take us into the National Park. The ranch folks did not seem to have any issue with this as we were not the only ones. Though at times there seemed to be some confusion on what our plans were during our stay. Not clear how that came about but it worked out in the end. We did take two excursions from the list of options offered through Cerro Guido which were informative. We can not praise the dining staff enough. From the fantastic dishes and desserts coming from the kitchen to the service staff that learned our names, drink preferences, and even our normal pace of dining, it was an immense pleasure at every meal. The Wednesday evening BBQ Buffet was a highlight. To enjoy this level of cuisine in a location like this (which is two hours from any semblance of a city) is a true testament to the chef and his crew and to the level of service this establishment provides. Lots of wildlife visiting the property-Guanaco, Rhea, Foxes including one who enjoyed a sunbath in a field with one of the resident horses. If you are a birder you’ll love the Condors, Carcara, and other unique avian species. We learned many details of the history of the estancia, how the property works now, the gaucho life, and the Puma conservation work being done on the ranch. Very commendable. Our guide, Aurelie, was an excellent resource for answering questions. If you are planning a trip to Patagonia, do yourself a favor and look into staying at this beautiful place. I can say without reservation that you will leave happy and impressed.

I would give six stars if I could. Estancia Cerro Guido exceeded all expectations. The location is prefect - pictures don’t do it justice. The estancia is huge, so the scenery changes quite dramatically as one visits different parts of it. Many of the hikes are within the limits of the estancia. It was surreal being the only people hiking in the vast mountains. Our room was cozy (bed was especially comfy), and the food was delicious and thoughtfully prepared with local ingredients. But the real highlight of our stay was the people. We received personalized service throughout our stay. All our guides were knowledgeable, professional and patient. They paced the hikes perfectly and told us so much about local flora and fauna. The staff at the hotel went above and beyond to make everything perfect. Thank you for making our stay special :)
