Hotel Puerto Viejo — Hotel in Vichuquén

Five of us had lunch at this rather new restaurant in Hotel Puerto Viejo. The place has a superb view of the old pier and sits right next to the ocean. The location alone is worth a visit. Made reservations but we were the only ones there on a Friday. We were invited for a cocktail of Pisco Sours on the terrace overlooking the ocean and had delicious appetizers of grilled octopus, ceviche, and fresh crab. After a long while we were invited to go inside for the main courses - lamb lasagna and grilled merluza, both very tasty. We drank local wines ( a Pais/Carignan and a Sauvignon Blanc). Service was an issue - initially we were invited outside for appetizers and only after an hour or so were our main courses ready. We were then hurried and were told that the kitchen was closing. This was surprising since no announcement had been made that that would be the case. The waiter was unapologetic and turned rude. Anyway, this faux-pas was brought to the attention of the restaurant manager. But I attribute this to a lack of expertise and practice rather than incompetence. We suggested the manager bring this to the attention of the Hotel owners. In Chile no restaurant closes its doors at 3 pm - this is when most people have lunch in this country. Built like wooden crates - rustic yet elegant! Stunning panoramic seascape dominate from every angle with constant sound of crashing waves onto black beaches!||We found the staff to be very helpful and obliging despite our awful lack of Spanish! Wonderful app translator!||Very well appointed rooms and amenities.||Food was delicious and innovative - especially crab lasagne! Lovely fresh breakfasts.||Down side was the pool area that on arrival had an oily film and looked murky as water low and filters not working. Men working on bushes around the area. We mentioned this at reception and next day it was much improved. Same with Hot Tub but we enjoyed the Massage (Jacuzzi) Spa instead. ||Relaxing sitting area upstairs and nice log fire in restaurant which was needed due to very chilly (but beautiful) sea mists.||Good fresh fish lunch sitting out in friendly local restaurant - watched the fishing boats come and go with their catch! ||Very relaxing hotel in an interesting...

Hotel y Restaurante ubicado en Llico, una pequeña localidad que queda 4 horas al sur de Santiago (Región del Maule) Queda casi encima del mar. Cada lugar del hotel tiene vista a la costa, es bellísimo y te lleva a una especie de meditación constante por el sonido del mar. Tiene 10 habitaciones (todas en el segundo piso). Creo que al menos 7 habitaciones son dobles y tienen un pequeño balcón. Recomiendo pedir la habitación 6, 7, 8 o 9: esto por la vista y el balcón. La habitacion 5 tiene balcón con vista al techo de la terraza....así que traten de evitar. La 10 no tiene balcón.... El baño tiene ducha (no tina), y un mini patio interior en donde está el calefont y en donde también se cuelga la ropa que necesites secar. La habitación tiene tv con cable (direct tv) Conexión a Internet gratis en todo el hotel: aunque la señal es bajísima (pero para qué ir a conectarse a un lugar así digo yo). Colocan 2 botellitas con agua purificada cada noche, es poquita cantidad, pero siempre puedes rellenar las botellas con agua de la llave que sabe bien y sale heladita. Ahora, la atención es cuento aparte: la administradora y recepcionista son en extremo apáticas y poco cordiales. Se la pasan mirando su celular (puede ser por trabajo....quizás) y no están atentas a lo que pasa alrededor. Cuando te hablan da un poco de miedo...de verdad son mega pesadas. Eso falta urgente en el hotel: administradora y recepcionista con enfoque a los visitantes y su bienestar. Son lo más importante del hotel, porque es la primera etapa de la reserva y después, de la llegada y primera impresión. Mal ahí (nota: 1,0) Los chicos que atienden las mesas (Daniel, Sebastian y Francisca), Todos un Amor; super cercanos (en particular Daniel), atentos y eficientes. Ellos fueron la contraparte del susto con las primeras "anfitrionas". A ellos, nota: 7,0 La comida es penca, tal cual. Cominos almuerzo y cena en el hotel, durante las 3 noches/ 4 días de estadía y ... una de las noches hasta me enfermé por el exceso de fritura en el pescado frito y las papas rústicas (que más bien eran papas requete fritas y vueltas a freir). Osobuco estaba okey y las machas a la parmesana sí estaban exquisitas. El cocinero o chef que nos tocó, usaba harta sal en sus preparaciones, lo que para mi estaba bien porque soy mega salada, pero para el resto es excesivo. El desayuno sí que estaba rico y nutritivo: café de grano, pancito hecho ahí mismo, palta, huevos, yogurt sin lactosa, granola, jugo de fruta natural.. Todo eso mirando el océano gigante y hermoso. No hay muchas alternativas para comer en Llico. En total deben haber solo 2 Restaurantes más aparte del hotel. Ah! olvidé mencionar que hay una piscina techada, un hot tub al aire libre (sin costo adicional), sauna, masajes y una tina de hidromasajes (los últimos 3, con costo adicional).
