My husband and I stayed here for four days during the sunny Chilean winter to view the solar eclipse. We could not have been happier with our experience, and felt so fortunate that this was the place we landed! ||||The hotel is run by a lovely young couple who welcomed us warmly and took great effort to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. We stayed in one of the cubes, which had stunning views of the lake below, and desert hills beyond. The bedroom space was simple and small like it appears in the photos (and is described in the hotel listing) so there’s not a lot of space for your luggage unless you put it under the bed, but it was very comfortable with excellent heating, soft towels, 100% cotton sheets, a plush mattress, and luxurious pillows. ||||And while it’s true we typically would have preferred to have one of the cabins that came with its own kitchen and seating area, we’re so glad we were in one of the cubes because we had a fabulous time hanging out in the shared kitchen – while meeting other travelers – and sitting outside in the dining area, chit-chatting over morning coffee or evening sour piscos. ||||The way the hotel is thoughtfully set up lends itself to easy camaraderie (if you want it) and enjoyment of the natural outdoor setting. Whether hanging out in the hot tub and gazing up at the Southern Cross, or taking a quiet hike along the sapphire blue lake in the morning, this place is very peaceful and relaxing, and provides an easy “get away from it all” experience. It’s also a quick drive to the nearby town of Vicuña where you can buy groceries, have a good meal, and visit wineries. ||||We truly had the best time at Hotel Puclaro and thank Emma and Ben for being such wonderful, gracious hosts. We can only imagine how fun it gets in the summertime when people come to...
Read moreI loved everything about this place. The room was comfortable an sparkly clean, the view is incredible, and the facilities have all you need for a comfortable stay. Mario de manager was kind enough to move to a room with a better view than the one I had initially booked. The view of the dam is incredible, only toped by the mountains surrounding it. There is no food offered here, but it has a nice kitchen with all appliances needed. Make sure to bring all you need, including your drinks. There is also no internet or tv, so perfect for a relaxed stay! The hotel is located in a small community with a couple grocery stores, also very nice for a walk around, and only 10 min from the town Vicuña, where you can also get anything you need or have a nice coffee at the plaza. ||Eli, the person who cleans the facilities, was also very hospitable. I have no complains! A place to visit in El Valle...
Read moreAbsolutely a must see destination. The beautiful concrete cabanas set into the hilltop overlooking the beautiful lake puclaro. We had flight delays and were able to change our 1 night booking with no problem. Emma was so accommodating! We ended up staying 3 nights as we fell in love with the place. From the moment we arrived Emma made us feel welcome and she was always there to help with any questions we had. We explored the local area during our stay and went to vicuna, pisco elqui, horseback trek and a beautiful star gazing night. There was amazing kitchen facilities for shared use. Just beautiful. I cannot recommend this place enough. Oustanding Emma and Ben! What...
