Not too bad experience at all. But there are several downs than ups. I am between 2 and 3, but is more a twoish:
Ups: The staff is friendly, solution oriented, helpful. Especially the people at the front desk and the managers are very kind and nice. The rooms are not bad, but the one I stayed in was a larger and an upgraded one. Safe hotel in a quiet area. Nice executive floor and tea lounge at the roof. In the heart of the Haidian university district. Close to U-center, a new mall with several restaurants.
Downs: The rooms are old and falling apart. The daily cleaning is not good and the carpet cover on the floor does not help. The fridge is barely working. The windows are narrow, allowing very little light and giving a claustrophobic feeling. Internet connection is very poor in the rooms. Breakfast is not of high standard, few varieties and the local cuisine they are serving at breakfast is kind of greasy. Tea and coffee are not good. Far away from city center, takes a long subway journey to get to the main attractions in Beijing. Not close to the nearest subway station (a 10-15 minutes walk). Considering these negatives, the cost per night is not low.
I would stay there again if I had to, particularly because of the helpful and nice staff, but would not hesitate to take a better option...
Read moreThis international conference center has about 12 floors of rooms, situated in the middle of College of Geosciences and near Beijing Language and Culture Univeristy, about 10 min walk to wudaoko metro station. It's fairly quiet in the surrounding area. Service is slightly disappointing. I complained about noise and they were willing to switch me to a smaller room only, as my room type was not available away from the noise. They admitted there was construction going on, and it was everyday from 8-11am. Secondly, the "chinese style rm" is really just a rm on the corner of the floor with really small windows, only about 12 inches wide, barely any light. It has some chinese decoration to distract from the lack of natural light. When I shared my disappointment it was brushed aside. Other...
Read moreI just returned this week from a two week visit to see my son who attends Beijing Language and Culture University across the street from this university. It was my fourth trip to visit him but first time at this hotel. I was very pleasantly surprised. This hotel is beautiful, clean, modern, and quiet (and it smells really good.) The front desk staff is very polite. I’m not sure how many speak English because my son is fluent but Mr. Zhang, a very pleasant and kind young man, speaks English very well. This is in the university district of Beijing (Haidian/Wudaokou) so lots of culture, plenty of restaurants and grocery stores, and close to the subway station and a nice mall. Very safe to get out and explore the area. I love this hotel and will...
