Must see place, I had a 9 hour layover in Beijing .Went on our own in a Chinese uber .Download the app called Didi rideshare. Also before going to China download the google translate app.The DIDI rideshare allows you to communicate with the driver by translating from your language to Chinese and vice versa. It takes credit cards like the Uber app and was only $24 from the airport to the Wall.Takes an hour and half to reach the wall.At the Wall location they only take Cash so please make sure you carry Yuan.I took the Bus to the cable car it cost for 2 persons 360 yuan. For Elderly people it's an incline from the Bus to the cable car to walk so be careful. Its a good 15 minute walk to the cable car.I had contacted some travel services that were charging $400 for 2 people my entire trip was done within $140 .Once at the wall there shops restaurants cafes and souveniers. The only issue is the language and the internet service when at the wall location.Make sure you arrange a ride back coz the local taxis charge more to come back to the airport or are not available. Over all had a easy...
Read moreIf you are in China The Great Wall is a must see. It is nothing short of amazing. Entry fee is about $25 US - which includes a bus up to the base of the Wall, you then need to pay for a chair lift, or gondola to take you up to the wall. This is again about $25US. There is a market on the way up to the buses, so lots of ops for souviners. You will need a moderate level of fitness, as there is a fair amount of stairs, some of them quite big. Wear walking shoes or sneakers. I would recommend you attend with a guide, as it is interesting to know the history, and use for many of the areas. It is remarkable to imagine how difficult it must have been for the workers some 1000 years ago. We took the sleds down from the Wall, which was a lot of fun, but our day wasnt too cold! I cant imagine it would be that much fun on a freezing dayAwesome views of the surounding areas. This is the most wonderful thing to see, and a great insight into Ancient...
Read moreMutianyu is one of the port for tourist at the Great wall. It's set at a distance of 74km for the 1st ring of China. If you wanna go there, you can choose to book a car from the hotel that you're staying or you could book via Trivago or Expedia.
At this point, I greatly suggest that you take the cable way to get to the top if you're not afraid of heights. Great scenery and breeze while.moving up. If not, you can choose cable car. For coming back down, you can choose to go for the minicar tracks or the transport that you went up with.
If you're adventurous and with good stamina, walk from point 5 to 4 onwards. It's steep and it's a good time to test your stamina and knees. If not, you can take the route to point 7, easier to climb and good for knees too.
To reach to the entry point of mutianyu, you can choose to take the shuttle bus from the Great wall ticket booth or you can...
