The Sandalwood, Beijing - Marriott Executive Apartments — Hotel in Beijing

I discovered this place through a local magazine. I joined a contest on that magazine and ended up winning the prize which was an overnight stay. I went back for another overnight stay because I enjoyed the first one. The lobby was okay but I was blown away when I saw the room. It's big compared to a normal hotel room. The interior decoration is good. The living room is really colourful. Since this is an executive apartment, there are many useful appliances inside (washing machine, dryer, iron, etc.). Some rooms have balcony and the make the room even bigger. The hotel was not crowded, so it's easier to dine and even swim at the pool The staff were helpful and the internet was very reliable. The view was just okay. Regarding the dining experience, the ala carte menu has big and delicious servings while the breakfast buffet was just normal. My only concern is the location because this is very far from where I live. Overall, I would recommend this place especially if you prefer spacious room and bathroom. It's away from everything and if you are just looking for a good staycation, this is one of the best options...

I chose to stay at the Sandalwood, Beijing - Marriott Executive Apartments because 1) I am a Marriott member, 2) my company would pay for the stay, 3) and I needed a residence for my family to do laundry and cook, etc. The Sandalwood is not located in the Central Business District and requires a subway or taxi commute to most places that you would need to get to. The subway is quite crowded during rush hours, morning and evening. Taxis are nearly impossible to call on the street; however, taxis will respond to reservation requests over mobile phone applications, which the Sandalwood staff are willing to facilitate. The Sandalwood itself has everything that you might expect from a fully-equipped hotel, including a very nice fitness room that is accessible anytime with a room key. I would definitely stay at the Sandalwood...

We spent 8 wonderful days here. We had a driver and guide but if you didn't it would be a long way to the downtown sights. The bed was heavenly. Very clean, maid service every day with free bottled water refreshed daily. Washer and dryer a big plus. Perfect air conditioning and VERY quiet. Some people stay here for 2 years on company business. Double glazed windows with NO street noise on the back side in room 1609. Cindy, the hotel manager was very helpful to us. Not much English spoken here beyond the front desk. Highly recommend if you have transportation, otherwise the subway would be a hike and a long ride into the center. There is a grocery store about a block away but no where nearby to eat other than the hotel restaurant...
