Stayed here 5 nights as part of a Wendy Wu tour in October 2018. On arrival having checked we had a non smoking room, we were annoyed when confronted with the smell of cigarettes on entering our room! We learned that whilst it was a non smoking hotel, guests are permitted to smoke in the corridors, lift areas etc at most hotels in China, and smoke they do. So be prepared. ||||The room was nothing spectacular, however, the beds and linen were lovely and comfortable. We had a view over the freeway and were amazed at seeing all the traffic and smog! There was no noise from outside! The Bathroom had shampoos, bath gels and hairdryer supplied. Towels were fine. Reception had no record of our ‘extra’ night/pre tour booking so thanking our WW guide was able to sort that out on arrival. There is no bank nearby, however the inhotel ATM machine was easy to use and the conversion rate good. Communication was generally poor from those on reception, so allow yourself extra time if you need assistance or checking out as there were a lot of blank stares!!!! At 7am when our group were trying to check out there was one person serving! Not good enough. The hotel is close to the Birds Nest and an easy 10min walk away. Despite other comments saying to the contrary, we found a downstairs supermarket literally next door that sold everything we needed as in snacks, drinks though note it doesn’t open till 10am. There were many eating places if you were prepared to walk through a few streets. People complain about its location but we soon realised with the size of Beijing/China in general, location will depend on proximity to attractions being seen and saving travel time. ||||The best thing about the hotel was the buffet breakfast. A wonderful choice of both Western and Asian dishes, we thoroughly enjoyed the vast choices, especially the Bircher muesli. The coffee was also decent compared to some other horrific ones we came upon else where. Note: one afternoon after a full day of sightseeing, we felt like a coffee so sat down in the lounge area. Discovering an espresso would cost us $A16 and we could ONLY have it with cake, we quickly retreated to our room and tried to enjoy the woeful teabag provided. Two bottles of water were provided each day......do not drink the tap water unless you boil it first! Also we discovered in October the air conditioning in rooms is either turned off or doesn’t work so makes for a very uncomfortable nights sleep (thanks to the...
Read moreThe hotel is not a five star!||The most important to know if you book this hotel:||- no english! Even if you need to order a water in room service. The employees try to translate using mobile phones app;||- you need to pay the room service preferable by cash (is not acceptable to put in your “room account”);||- the room is very hot (I think that air was not working) and smells cigarettes (we asked for another room and they said that they will change our room but they never call back and changed); ||- they inform us that all rooms are non-smoked room but this is not true;||- the amenities in the bathroom are low quality, shower is very bad but the towel is ok;||- no gym facility available in this big hotel;||- caution with the restaurant, me and my husband order 4 plates, we received only 2 and even after we complained they included in the bill;||- try to arrange all tours before came to this hotel. Nobody in the concierge speaks English, they don’t know where is the Olympic stadium (10 minutes walk from the hotel);||- if you need a taxi try to write in mandarin in a piece of paper the name of the place;||- the service in general, because of the language, is very bad! When you try to speaks in English they looks very surprised! Unacceptable for a five...
