VOYAGE INTERNATIONAL HOTEL — Hotel in Beijing

I've chosen Voyage International Hotel because the location. It takes only 15 minutes drive to the capital international airport and the hotel offers pickup and drop off service for free. However, the pickup service wasn't so good as I expected. I called the hotel the day before my flight to book the pickup service as also described in the booking confirmation letter. I was told that was not necessary, I should just show up at the pickup point and there are frequent bus to the hotel, so I did. Apparently, it would works for the one who has Chinese mobile number. As they can frequently call the hotel to get an update of the bus. For me who doesn't have a Chinese number, I stood there for more than one hour to find the right bus. The bus size is different than the picture showed in the confirmation letter. Moreover, there is no sign of the hotel on the bus, so it is difficult to find. The pickup point is outside of T3 building, stood there for more than one hour is not optimal during winter time in Beijing. Note: as the hotel is very close to the airport, no Taxi drive is willing to go. So this is not an option. The two star goes to the receptionist at the hotel. She's quite helpful and nice. She has upgraded my room to a bigger one (22 square meter instead of 15) as it was available. Although it is a no smoking hotel, the room smells smoke. So I got it changed to a new one, but it has the same issue. The receptionist offered me a third room, at that time I was too tired, so I keeped the second one. She helped me to set up the ventilation system in the room and it helped a bit. The hotel facilities are quite new with many smart functions, definitely a plus. We stayed here for a night as we had an early morning flight to catch. Travelled as a family of four (2 adults + 2 young children). Overall a delightful experience (my kids wanted to stay longer instead of hopping on the flight home).Location - Great location for those on the way to / from Beijing Capital Airport, as it is very near (closer to Terminal 2 than Terminal 3, but even the latter is only ~10-15 min drive away).Cleanliness - No complaints there. The open areas (hotel lobby, children's play area, breakfast / supper area) and our hotel room are all in good condition. There are two alpacas on the hotel premises, in an enclosure between the two hotel blocks - even their poop got cleaned up very quickly XDService - Smooth, efficient, and friendly. I felt the hotel's operations were clearly designed for airport travellers, who might be arriving / leaving at awkward hours & looking for a restful time here. There was a welcome fruit platter waiting for us in our room, supper late in the evening, and free flow coffee machine in the hotel lobby. They even gave us a farewell gift pack with toiletries / eye mask, which I found to be really thoughtful.Facilities - In addition to the typical facilities one'd expect in a hotel, we appreciated the play area for kids - it's not big, but quite sufficient to occupy two kids for a few hours. This play area is located to one side of the hotel lobby, next to the free flow coffee machine / toilet & a working area with large table / computers, which makes it easy for parents to keep an eye on their children while doing other things. We stayed at Voyage International Hotel on our last night in Beijing in order to catch an early flight the next day. The service, amenities, and facilities punches WAYYYY above their price point. Firstly, their excellent service. From the time our private hire reached the hotel, we were immediately greeted by two staff who graciously helped us with our bags. After the hour long journey from the city center, we just wanted to check in and rest. Fortunately for us, everything was smooth and we reached our room in under 5 minutes without having the fuss about our luggage.Next, the amenities. Perhaps you only learned about their breakfast (which is excellent) and airport shuttle service. But did you know they also offer free supper between 10:30PM to 12AM? For guests arriving on a late flight, this is an excellent idea. They also have lots of other small, well thought out initiatives that makes one's stay really pleasant.Lastly, their facilities. Everything about the room, toilet, lifts, shuttle is great. The room is high tech, the huge TV screen comes pre-loaded with their local Netflix-equivalent so you definitely have some free movies to watch.
