If you like to be baked like a Thanksgiving Turkey, then this is the hotel for you.
Otherwise, the hotel is pretty awesome - especially the staff; these guys are awesome at customer service - very attentive; It's a shame that the facilities team (and or the construction design) made the HVAC system inadequate for human habitation by JACKING-UP the room temperature to approximate the conditions on VENUS. The first night, I had to open the window and barricade the drapes from clogging it by using a chair and table; then I had to prop my front door open with the deadbolt so I could some circulation. Not the most secure room, however, it was necessary in order to get some sleep. (Bed is awesome too!).
Next day, the concierge contacted me about relocating - she even offered to have the staff move all my stuff for me. I hate other people having to relocate all my stuff, so I did it myself; thing is, I really like the floor I was on, since the lounge was there- made it really convenient. Nevertheless, I changed rooms from the 15th to the 7th floor and the temperature was much better in the new room.
At Check-out, the manager (to her credit) was summoned to assuage me from my feeling of inconvenience (also know as "death by a thousand apologies"). I commend the sentiment. However, the approach needs to be "let's fix this thing which is broken" - rather than "let's refine and perfect on our apology skills". The hotel is new - the team who designed and qualified the HVAC system should be obliged to some warranty on it's performance; is the HVAC system so frail that it cannot afford the occupant to modulate temperatures (e.g. from ~22C to 28C)? If so, why? The overall hotel is awesome! The staff are more than capable. Don't make your staff apologists for the technical crew - hold your engineer guys accountable.
Food / restaurant was awesome; minor issue (pet peeve, really) - I went for breakfast buffet twice in-a-row. Ordered coffee - did not get it - had to request again. I'm in sort of a hurry in the morning - I really likes tuh gits my coffee-on muy pronto; please bring me that plant-based alkyloidal preparation, stat!!!! Also, sometimes in the morning, I have telecons in my room, so I want to take my breakfast back to my room. "...no can do (more or less) was the response from the lounge crew. Change your policy and let your concierge crew say 'yes" to taking breakfast...
Read moreI recently stayed at this hotel and was unfortunately quite disappointed with the level of service I received. I had purchased the hotel’s buffet one evening, which was advertised as “all you can eat and drink” until 9:30 PM. However, despite the fact that the buffet was supposed to remain open until 9:30, the staff started putting away the alcohol at 8:00 PM. When I asked for another drink, they informed me that they were no longer serving alcohol—even though there was still well over an hour left before closing time.
To make matters worse, I was told I couldn't order whiskey by itself and that it had to be a mixed drink. I neither wanted nor was made aware of this rule before, and there were no signs indicating such a restriction. It felt very disorganized, and the staff couldn’t provide a clear reason for the policy.
Hoping for better service, I went to the hotel bar afterward. Unfortunately, the bartender on duty didn’t even seem to know how to measure a single shot of whiskey. There was no shot glass available, and I had to wait while they contacted the manager to bring one. This experience was both baffling and frustrating, especially given that a hotel bar should be equipped to handle basic drink orders.
Finally, when it was time to check out, the process was extremely slow—taking about 20 minutes. In my experience, checkout at most hotels is fairly quick, usually no more than five minutes. This delay compounded my overall sense that the staff were not well-trained and did not value their customers’ time.
In summary, while the hotel itself might have potential, the overall service was disappointing. The staff’s lack of competence—from managing the buffet policy to handling simple bar requests and efficient checkouts—made my stay far less pleasant than it should have been. I hope the management will focus on improving staff training and communication so that future guests receive a...
Read moreI have stayed here at the Chengdu West Crowne plaza several times over the last few years (all work relatable trips)||||I found that on my more recent trip the staff were much more accommodating, very aware of English and being able to help and support guests with any issues. This hotel is used by a lot of people and many spaces are used for external hire such ad the ballrooms. It can get very busy and as a hotel guest you sometimes do not feel that you are perhaps the priority. (on night i was unable to dine at the garden restaurant and eat the buffet as t had been changed in accommodating a large company)||||However I must say that there are several members of staff who do go above and beyond and also recognize loyal and returning guests. Evelyn who works in the restaurants says good morning every day and knows what coffee drink I would like. She is very polite and ensure her guests have the best service.||||I also met and was introduced to CiCi Zhong (Guest relation officer) SHe noticed that I was a regular guest and wanted to make herself and her services known. She ensured she found me almost everyday as I was leaving or returning from work to say HI, she wanted to make sure my room was perfect and that anything I requested could be dealt with.||||She even went as far as greeting me with a fruit basket and personal card just to ensure I had a warm and welcome stay. A very honorable member of staff and again her english is excellent so is very supportive.||||The hotel is business orientated, it is huge, it is very clean and is in a good location around a 5-10 minute walk to various shops, restaurants and a...
