Holiday Inn Express CHENGDU TIANFU AIRPORT ZONE — Hotel in Chengdu

Chose Holiday Inn because it was one of few hotels in Changdu to offer Non-Smoking Rooms.And the guaranteed 1600 check out time since our flight ETD was 1825.Alas the experience is less than stellar.First was the weird request to reserve the free airport pick up at least 2hrs in advance!Luckily, I asked our guide to do the reservation and he told us to meet the shuttle at T1 4F door 21 around 1825. The shuttle did arrive at 1828. The check in lady spoke good English, honoured our 1600 late checkout, advised and booked us to depart the hotel on their 1500 shuttle upon hearing our international flight was 1825.Room is pretty standard for 4 star Chinese hotels - with a dizzying array of switches and the usual modern looking shower with impractical features - no place to put your towels within easy reach while showering. It is not the worst though.Hotel is in a cluster of hotels around a 'food street' that was pretty sad state with little food and dining traffic. We opted to eat at the food stalls set up just across the road from the hotel.Hotel breakfast did have some western food but NO butter in the toast bread section!Due to it's distant location, we opted not to take a 2h public transport to Chengdu central but went to the central of the Jianyang satellite town that the hotel was in. Took 30min and 2 CNY pax.The other difficulty was trying to get back to hotel. The hotel doesn't show up in Amap or Didi app! Luckily, Amap does have the next door Ji Hotel which worked to...

Review of Chengdu Holiday Hotel (1-Day Transit Stay - Macau to Kathmandu):I had a wonderful one-day transit stay at the Chengdu Holiday Inn Hotel during my trip from Macau to Kathmandu. The hotel is conveniently located, making it easy to access from the airport and explore the city briefly. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out process despite my short stay.The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. The bed was cozy, and the bathroom was spotless. I also appreciated the complimentary Wi-Fi, which was fast and reliable.Though my stay was brief, the hotel’s warm hospitality and excellent service made it a memorable experience. Hotel relatively new so the beddings are nice and clean. Good size. Friendly staff. However, the hotel transfer is TERRIBLE! Our flight landed at 00:25 and after passing through immigration and retrieving luggage from the conveyor belt it was already 1:15AM. Called the hotel front seat for hotel transfer and was told to wait on level 4 exit door 12 by 1:30AM. Alas! The mini bus only arrived at 2:00AM!!! Worse was to come when the driver had to go back to the Chengdu Domestic Terminal 2 to pick two more passengers! Furthermore there were NO more seats on the mini bus!! So those last two passengers had to stand throughout the 20mins drip from Chengdu T2 terminal to Holiday Inn Express. That is their worst performance regarding the hotel transfer service. We then arrived at the hotel by 2:30AM. Went to bed only at 3:30AM!!Very utterly disappointing! Spoilt the nice cosy atmosphere...
