Holiday Inn Express Chengdu West Gate — Hotel in Chengdu

This is my second trip Chengdu West Gate location. Room is very nice and a modern style bathroom. Staff is very friendly to me. Breakfast is good, however, does not fit my special needs. However, they do have fresh fruit and salad in the morning. Additionally, there is a cook that makes fresh eggs and other items. Staff is very nice to me. On my first trip I was looking for a convenient store. The staff walked me to the location. It was very close. My recent visit, my friend had got sick. I asked for a recommendation on OTC from the store. They gave me a location and a general idea of what was needed. My friend was feeling much better. Additionally, they have a small laundry room that is easy to do general laundry. My only complaint I would have is that I wanted to book again for November. I tried to set up at the location. However, they wanted me to call the sales manager. I was still on the property for an additional 3 days and asked them to have the sales manager contact me for the booking for late this year 2014. I never heard a word from them. Follow up is not very good. Location of facility is great. You can find many services and really great local food near by. And you are not that far from Tianu Square. Did the bus system and found it great. Especially during rush hour. Also the bus system will take you to Chengdu Railway system. I would recommend...

I stayed here for one night with my wife as a part of a group trip with friends. ||||HOTEL||||The hotel is large and check in was reasonably quick. The staff at check-in was attentive and they seemed to know what they were doing.||||The stay was a quick layover as we were travelling on to other parts of the province. The location was not close to the usual touristy places we would visit, but it was a pit-stop, so this did not really matter to us. ||||ROOM||||The room was not very bright and the furnishings were showing their age. The room and the bathroom was not very clean, and, shockingly, the miniature shampoo bottles were not full, which suggests that they had not replaced the ones used by previous guests. To me, this is an indication of the low standards of the hotel.||||The bed was not comfortable and we did not sleep well. ||||As we left very early the next morning, we did not have a chance to have breakfast or see the rest of the hotel.||||Wifi connected easily to all devices.||||I would not...

I must praise the check-in staff for her being so busy but still so professional offering all necessary information to guests when I arrived at the hotel after 11pm on my date of arrival.

While I have been away from IHG due to the use of another program, this hotel was chosen due to the location and convenience to business, I was really wowed by the breakfast with essential items as well as local specialties that I was able to experience Sichuan while not being able to explore the cities during my travel. The breakfast is really a plus!

A tip for anyone who's traveling from other countries who may think non-smoking is a hotel-wide policy. Here is not. So you should specifically request a non-smoking room. I learned the lesson after checking-in and was too tired (at midnight) to call front desk to switch rooms. Luckily the smell was not so bad and I had the window open for some fresh air.
