The hotel can be a little hard to find as it’s part of a large group of hotels (the Longmont and Yes) and the Chengdu railway is quite large (if that’s how you arrived). Best thing to remember is to just follow the signs to East Square and you’ll be on the right track!||The front desk staff were great at trying to communicate with us despite our obvious language barriers which we really appreciated.||The room had complimentary water (replenished each day), in-room tea and coffee sachets (not replenished throughout our stay), shampoo & conditioner, TV (not that we used it) but no in-room fridge to keep drinks cold.||The room was really nice, quite spacious with a separate bathroom and toilet (although still no real privacy between the two). The bed was also quite comfortable but the shower pressure wasn’t great and the toilet smelt a little off for some reason on the first day we arrived.||We stayed on the 8th floor, but encountered a few things go be aware of. Firstly the noise from the traffic is clear and audible all night, it was pretty difficult to sleep and the window doesn’t close all the way (maybe some double-glazing needed too. Also, the wi-fi is terrible, we gave up trying to use it, nothing would ever load. Finally, being on the 8th floor meant accessing lifts at peak times is impossible, especially when others are trying to check-out, we waited 15 minutes for a lift (each one of the six completely full by the time they reached our level) before we gave up and tried the stairs which took us to the lobby of one of the other hotels, very confusing!||Breakfast was quite broad (58 yuan pp if it’s not included). It had a selection of dumplings, vegetables, rice, sausages, bacon, porridge and congee as well as basic toast and cereal, with fruit and some limited yoghurt availability. There is also a station where the chef makes eggs your way or noodles your way from a wide selection, right next to the pastries (donuts, egg tarts, pastries, buns).||Overall we enjoyed our stay here but probably wouldn’t stay again due to the lift, wifi and noise...
Read moreThis hotel has good and bad points that I will describe to help you.||GOOD: ||1.right next to the Chengdu East railway station. (Use the East entrance/exit) a super easy walk even with baggage, once you know the entry-it is in the Longemont complex- cross the road from the station and walk around the base of the buildings. There is a Rayfont hotel entry and a rayfont apartment entry, this review is for the apartment. See attached image for arrow pointing at door, and picture of the entry.||2.very comfortable beds for anyone who finds most Asian hotel beds too firm.||3.Good local food places nearby.||4. Room provides bottled water, kettle, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, comb||5.Cheap! You do need to provide a deposit that they return on departure.||||NOT SO GOOD:||1.Noisy location, railway station announcements loud until late at night then start again early morning. Internal room walls not very soundproof, could hear baby crying down the hall through the night.||2.Despite having non smoking room, room smelt of stale smoke, all bed linen and towels also smelling of smoke. Made it hard to sleep.||3.Room did not supply bar fridge, shampoo or conditioner, or teacups (glasses provided did the job)||4.We were in a family room for four which really only had 3 beds, we had to squeeze in. Apparently that is the largest room.||5.the walls of the bathroom are frosted glass with very little sound separation, it would probably be a bit awkward staying with someone who wasn't a close family member!||6.the 15Y breakfast was not very nice, probably better off going down the street to a local eatery.||||CONCLUSION:||For a one night stay it would be ok if you brought earplugs and an essential oil diffuser and were travelling alone or with close family. Personally, I would pay a bit more and try somewhere...
Read moreI used the map on hotels.com site to find a hotel located close to the business meetings I had. The map was completely wrong (I checked the TripAdvisor map, it too is wrong), and turns out so was the directions that Hotels.com gave me. I searched the address of the hotel that Hotels.com gave me in my confirmation email in Google Maps - it took me to a restaurant (this is the location that TripAdvisor is giving). After spending nearly two hours searching for this hotel, I finally found it in the middle of nowhere outside the second ring road near Chengdu East Train Station. I had tried to call hotels.com repeatedly and did not get through - literally zero help from them. ||||The hotel used my Visa card to take a deposit then when I tried to check out, they told me that they couldn't use my Visa card to pay for the room service I had (it was disgusting - a hard brownie that was god knows how old) or the 3 bottles of water I had to buy because the hotel did not provide free water. I asked what they had done with my deposit then and they told me it would take minimum 30 days to return my deposit. I still don't have it back yet. ||||After complaining to both the manager of the Longemont and hotels.com, showing them the screenshots of the map and everything, all I got was a lousy $20 coupon to use on hotels.com, which didn't even cover the taxi rides I had to make during rush hour to get to the 2 wrong locations hotels.com gave me. No thanks. I'll use any other hotel booking site from now on and never stay at the Longemont again. ||||Also the breakfast at the hotel was gross. I had a piece of dried out watermelon (how can that even get dried out??? Water is in the name) and a coffee after...
