For shoppers and foodies, the Hyatt Regency’s location is unbeatable. A vibrant shopping district starts just a block away, and dozens of restaurants—spanning every cuisine and budget—are within easy walking distance. The neighborhood pulses with youthful energy, attracting social media-savvy visitors (who love to “shua ka” or check in online) and plentiful cosplayers showcasing elaborate outfits.||||While the hotel’s setting is lively, its views are limited due to surrounding high-rises. That said, the rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, making indoor relaxation a highlight. As a Hyatt Globalist, I received a high-floor room, lounge access, and complimentary breakfast (though no suite upgrade). The evening lounge happy hour was crowded and underwhelming—limited food options and basic drinks made nearby restaurants far more appealing.||||The wellness facilities disappointed. Reaching the pool, gym, or spa requires navigating a vast, empty corridor after exiting the elevators. Though staff were present, maintenance was lacking: the changing rooms felt neglected, with sinks clogged by paper towels and no running water. Showers appeared unclean, and the “hot tub” was lukewarm. The gym had quality equipment but poor ventilation, quickly becoming uncomfortably warm.||||Breakfast offered ample variety, but hygiene was a concern. Uncovered dishes were exposed to frequent coughing/sneezing from other guests—transparent food shields would help.||||Verdict: A decent stay with a stellar location, but facility upkeep need attention. For my next Chongqing trip, I’d likely try...
Read moreUnfortunately, much of the information on Hyatts website and app is out of date for this hotel… many of the amenities no longer exist or have been closed for many years now.
The location is not great (unless you’re in town for business and need to be somewhere that happens to be close to the hotel), and is quite far from the best parts of Chongqing.
The staff do not speak any English… this is fairly normal in China, but I choose to stay at 5-star Hyatts when I’m in a place with such a big language barrier to avoid this exact issue.
They weren’t aware of Hyatt elite benefits with my Globalist status (they seemed like they had never had a foreign guest before) and were resistant to allowing a 2pm late checkout (Globalists are entitled to 4pm).
They didn’t explain anything about the property, lounge, breakfast, room, or anything….
There are much better options with better hardware, better service, and better locations...
Read moreThis Hyatt Regency Hotel in Chongqing is located near a popular and busy shopping mall. I booked here four nights with lounge access. The staff even spoke a little bit English and was very polite and friendly throughout my stay. I particularly liked the lounge with the happy hour offer in the evening, where they had a decent buffet and good selection of alcoholic drinks. For breakfast in the morning you were allowed to go to the normal restaurant, as the lounge was open from 12:00h only. The breakfast choices were of high quality and abundant with both asian and western dishes. Eggs were prepared custom-made. I was also very happy with the quiet room including a large bathroom, as it was very spacious, clean and located on an upper floor with good views. I also enjoyed using the pool and the saune, although the sauna could have been much hotter. It was a pleasure...
