The weekend package including breakfast and dinner buffet for two was good. As the hotel keeps a lot of doors and windows open, there were quite a lot of bugs flying around, including mosquitoes and fruit flies and tiny bugs that stick to seafood. That was the only drawback as regards to food. Unlimited fresh fruit juice was extra nice. The seafood specialty was quite nice.
We arrived around 9am and was told that the rooms were not ready so we had to wait, and the staff said they would call us as soon as a room is available, so we wandered around and came back until noon, then found out there were still no room available. However, there were some clients in the lobby who were very upset about not being informed that the check-in had to be strictly done at 3pm sharp, and as most clients, same as us, had driven a long way to get there, they were very mad. As a result, the staff quickly gave them rooms once seeing the guests were upset. That made me quite upset, as I had arrived at 9am and have been waiting for a room since. If the hotel has a 3pm check in policy than they should stated it during reservation, if they do not, the staff should not make it up and lie to the guests just for their convenience. And then quickly change their minds once seeing clients upset. I would rather not be upset during check in, that makes it hard to like the...
Read moreThis is a nice hotel in a great location. However, I had to give it a no recommendation twice this week due to the hotel, and the rooms are at uncomfortable temperatures. In 300+ SPG/Marriott hotels stays; this is the first no recommendation hotel I have encountered.
I stayed in a suite the week before with 2 a/c units and the temperature after a few hours would get just comfortable. This week, in a room with 1 a/c unit, it cannot get below 80F. The main lobby is so hot it’s uncomfortable to sit and is evident with the lack of anyone there. So, as I was asked about a high profile customer and a place to stay; my recommendation is the Songshan area, but they will need to stay in another hotel down the road. To make a suggestion for the Aloft would be a career-ending decision. I was then asked by a college, and I could not in good conscience recommend due to the heat to him either. While it would not be career ending; he would be wondering why I was punishing him.
The two prior poor reviews for uncomfortable stays are real, and you are forwarned. 80F is the lower limit the hotel is kept at. If you are OK with that, then this is a nice place.
Tonight, I will be moving to a 2 a/c room or moving to...
Read moreIt’s a great place for a relaxing weekend. Songshan Lake Park is just on the opposite, with a 1 min walk. It might takes you 3 hours to go around the park(I haven’t been through the whole park, I don’t think it’s practical on foot, you can rent a bike. Btw it’s just a huge lake with trees and flowers, excellent for relaxing but might not qualify as an “attraction”, so don’t expect to get any award winning photos or exotic experience on this) The hotel was inside a leisure centre which includes food/drink/movies, there were several nice places to eat with quite affordable price. I know some sightseeing places you got ripped off by the restaurants nearby, it’s absolutely not the case here.(at least not within the leisure centre the hotel was located, haven’t tried the restaurants outside the centre). Haven’t tried the food in the hotel as many other places nearby. The transportation was very convenient. Suppose you are in GUANGZHOU or ShenZhen or Dongguan cities, you can take a train to Changping station if you don’t wanna drive, takes around 45min and &¥50-70 to the hotel by taxi(15km). Or you can drive here and the hotel has a underground...
