These comments are written on behalf on my husband who is Platinum member and I'm a Gold. We spend every week in Sheraton Houjie and we have to say that Reception staff are very nice and many staff in the restaurant are also working hard and being nice.
We only feel that the hotel is in urgent need of refurbishment both public areas and rooms.
Renzo Bar is just cheaply looking bar with loud music where you cannot enjoy a drink and having a proper chat with your business partners. They now put a pool table there which is just low class overall. The hotel has many areas where they could have a nice classy western bar without the pool table or loud music.
We are in the hotel almost every week and almost everytime we spend at least one hour per day in their gym. The fitness room needs an urgent attention from SPG and The management. There are machines broken for over 3 years now. We and other guests reported this to the management but nothing changed. The equipment is old, outdated and not enough interesting machines and most of them are in need of replacement. The leg machine, one of the benches doesn't have a bolt (it's actually dangerous!) and the bike. For three years there has been a sign Out of order! The staff is standing outside and their only job is to give you the towel and they seem oblivious to what's going on in the gym because they spend all their time playing or checking their phones and never coming inside to check and clean the machines after people finish the exercise or check if everything is ok and working. People could hurt themselves but this staff doesn't care. Every other SPG hotel such as Sheraton or Westin fitness we've visited had very attentive staff who would come in, clean the machines and many places offer also bananas or some fruit after exercise.
There is a huge area where was a spa 4-5 years ago which is just locked and empty space and wasted area. Why you dont you use that area for a nice quiet bar where people can meet their friends and business colleagues in a pleasant environment without fighting against a loud music?!
This hotel seems to be on very low budget in every area and its very visible.
The overall feeling is that the place is not managed, is very tired and just surviving and the staff seems to be lost with no direction from Management and nobody seems to be enjoying...
Read moreI travel to Dongguan about every three months, and always stay at the Sheraton. My Usually my experiences are very good, but it was not on this last visit. I asked for a hotel pickup at the Guangzhou airport. My flight arrived at 5:30 rather than the scheduled 6 AM arrival. The driver did not arrive until 6:30 AM. Many other drivers for other passengers were there on time, but I ended having to wait almost 45 minutes after a 27 hour trip to China. When I checked in, I told the desk clerk what happened and thought there should be some adjustment made in the transportation fare, and they did not respond. That same morning, I ate breakfast in the brasserie downstairs, and told them my room number as is typical. During the breakfast, the young American gentleman who works in the restaurant approached me and said since I had just checked in that morning; I would need to pay for my breakfast. I told him that was fine, and he brought the bill which I signed and put my room number on. I left the restaurant and was getting on the elevator to get my room, when two people came running from the restaurant, and told me that I needed to come back as I had not signed my bill. I went back with them, and they went to my table and checked the bill which I had signed. They then said I could go. This was done in front of several guests, and I found this rather embarrassing. I later in the week ate at the Japanese restaurant, and paid for my bill by signing it to my room. I was with two other people from my place of work that did the same. About 15 minutes later, there was knocking at my door, and the server from my table was there. She said that my signature was not correct. I assured her that it was my signature, but she asked for proof of it. I showed my driver’s license which she took with her and, made a copy and then returned it later to my room. I think on my next visit I will just stay in another hotel as all of these experiences were a bit frustrating and odd to deal with. I was also disappointed that no adjustment was made to my car charges as I waited such a long period of time for the driver. By the way, he never apologized for being late. If I had been late, you would have charged me...
Read moreHotel staffs are kind & they're trying to give good service to their gusets. This is good. But in general, guest services are not good. First, guest rooms have a bit dark tone which give feel dirty to the guests. Second, Houjie Dongguan is big city but this hotel is the only option for SPG members. Even though I want to stay another SPG hotels, it's very far from there. Third, small & detailed services are not consistent. From time to time, bath-tub had problems, welcome-fruit are not given(even though I asked), deposit money are different even for same-conditioned reservations...etc... Fourth, it's really hard to get suite upgrade for platinum members though I understand that it's up to hotel's policy & rooms availablilty. Even my friends said same thing on this hotel. Fifth, my feeling on this hotel is just for business people(sleep, breakfast and checkout), not for family even though I stayed almost 20 times at this hotel. Since there is KTV on the 3rd(4th?) floor and too many girls can be shown at the hotel especially the night time. Sixth, the reasons why I stay this hotel are, I have lots of customers at there and Houjie is the easist access-point for me to get to them. Moreover, I like SPG(not this hotel) and can earn QS/QN and the...
