I stayed at the hotel from 27/4/2024 till 8/5/2024 |The hotel is clean and the rooms were nice and spacious.||BUT! When you book a stay in a hotel like Sofitel you expect more than just a nice clean spacious room, you expect a great service and professional hospitality||1- During my 12 days in the hotel i was having a hard time communicating with the whole staff because not even the reception managers knows proper english which was very shocking especially that i was been in other 5 stars hotels in china and noticed the difference where at least half the staff knew very well english and communication was very easy ||2- The restaurant on the 58 th floor, on the day of my arrival i went up their to check what was for dinner |It was literally three Islands of Chinese food ! And it is something i noticed throughout the hotel in general, that they do not consider foreigner guests, ||the next morning i went up to breakfast and the 3 islands that was full of food selections had nearly nothing that foreigners or also Halal eaters would have expect an egg station which was very slow compared to the size of the restaurant because it was only 1 person working on it , and there was exactly 2 kinds of cheese only !||3- Room Service! The slowest i have experienced in my traveling throughout the world and the room cleaning is very poor while i am not in the room to tell them how to clean and i even tested that a couple of time to make sure if they were cleaning when i wasn’t in the room and shockingly they were just making the room up, ||Plus its a whole new level of challenge when you want to order food ! |My simplest order was - |I need a beef burger with no bacon |A cup of ice|And i need the order to come on a trolley table|The order came - beef burger with bacon no cup of ice on a tray!||After all that bad experiences with this hotel i want to point out that there were 2 absolutely amazing men that were trying to help me throughout my stay ||The first was Pradip which i believe was responsible for the the guest PR |The most helpful and cared about every little detail to help make my stay better - from the breakfast food options to communicating with the staff to finding places to go out for shopping or anything that I actually needed and i would really hope that the hotel would get more staff like him!||And the other person was Carol from the concierge a truly helpful man that even helped me on his days off or while i was out of the hotel to be able to come back since they do not have uber or barely have street taxis in foshan ||My rating to these two gentlemen alone was an easy 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and i am truly thankful ||I would just hope that the hotel can have more staff like these two gentlemen, take in consideration the foreigner guests and improve your staffs english speaking and hospitality skills. ||In the photos below you can see that my breakfast was the same every single day due to the lack of options for 11...
Read moreThis hotel is located in the Louvre Furniture Mall Location wise it might not be very good, as there is not a shopping mall or restaurants within walking distance to the Hotel, although in the Hotel itself, it is enough to contain everything.
I stayed here for 5 days. I can't even start to describe the level of design, interior and furniture use within this hotel. It is truly amazing, beautiful and fine workmanship. You stay here you wish your house could be the same way. The room is big and everything is provided. They use Loccitane amenities up on the suites and Lanvin on the normal room.
There are four theme to the rooms in the hotel: Modern, Post Modern, Neo Chinese and French. I love the Post Modern and Neo Chinese, you don't see these styles in other hotel. The hotel was kind enough to upgrade me to Post Modern Suites
The fitness facility is amazing, it's a whole floor, one room for free weight, one room just for cardio (including calisthenics equipment, TRX, rowing machine, etc), one Yoga room, Indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi and Sauna inside the changing/toilet area.
The one thing that needs to be noted is that manpower in this hotel needs to be train in regards to service, but it is expected as the hotel level of luxury is really high, but I am sure in times, the standard will reach the way it should be.
I met some really nice managers and staff within the hotel: Tim as Concierge Manager has been nice from the first step I took out of the car in the lobby. Met Lydia who was the front office assistant manager, Karen the front office manager who took me to a tour of the whole property and of course Michael the executive chef of the hotel, who is passionate about food and meeting guest around the hotel. These people have their head and heart set on the right place and don't forget all the staff in the club millesime, took really good care of us every morning.
The food is good, we didn't get bored eating everyday as there were so many options and menu in the restaurants. I especially love the congee and the noodle wonton up on the club millesime (Club Lounge) Italian = Allegria Buffett/Alacarte = Kwe Zeen: Seafood such as Oysters, Crab, western and asian food.
For now, this hotel is my default hotel while I am in Foshan for business, in fact it is one of my favorite hotel around the...
Read moreBooked rooms with excess to the club lounge for 2 nights. Upon checking in we had to separately ask where the lounge was and were then send to the restaurant.||Rooms we massive with a super spacious bathroom with seperate toilet, shower, bathtub and large couch, large sliding doors to the room on one side and dressing area on the other side. Wooden floors, very hygienic.|Minibar, kettle and nespresso was hidden in a nice Chinese cabinet.||Breakfast was in the restaurant, you could sit on the right, a little away from the buffet area, avoiding the crowd. Western selection was ok with fruits, yoghurt, pastries, eggs etc. Large Chinese selection. Very bad coffee but tea was good.||Club lounge provided afternoon tea and happy hour: happy hour food was good and we actually snacked so much, we could forego dinner. Be aware not to cut the bread that is for decoration only when the bread on the wooden board is finished. We did and so did other people :-)||One comment is that they changed our wifi access code on day 2 without informing us so when we arrived in the hotel late in the evening, we could not log in. Upon checking out, they also changed the name on the reservation without informing me. So we had to get them to change it all back again. Very odd as I made the reservation from the Accor app which has all the details including my membership status and to change it then randomly to my partner's name, very clumsy.||After we checked out in the morning and left our luggage before leaving for HK in the evening, we could not get wifi access either anymore. Would have expected to keep the access for guests who checked out a few more hours. There was also no option to get wifi anymore without using a Chinese phone number||There is a bar on the rooftop with some live music. You can smoke inside so really horrific for your lungs and clothes. Drinks are nice and staff is friendly. We could only sit in one area as for the other area, it was reserved for people spending 1500CNY on a bottle of liquor.....not that there was anyone. Bar was filled with very young girls zipping from one drink and taking millions of pictures of each other in revealing outfits, quite...
