Reasons Not to stay: Location in the middle of an area under construction. There is no building or shops around this hotel. Maybe in a few years time this is the thriving part of Fuzhou. Many hotels and shopping malls nearby but currently under construction. A distance from downtown Fuzhou. However all are reachable by metered taxi. Ask the concierge to book you a taxi. Most taxi driver do not know English please ask the concierge to write the hotel name in Chinese. Drivers who does not want to switch on the metered will ask for double the usual fare (30RMB to 40RMB) Only a few English speaking staff please be patient . If language is a problem. I think Fuzhou is not like bigger cities Shanghai or Beijing where there are more English speakers. Reasons to stay here: Stay is good clean, quiet and comfortable room. Nice classy interior. Ask for the river side view. The other side is facing the construction sites. Have a indoor and outdoor swimming pool. They only allow you to enter it when you have a swim wear and a swimming cap. Recommend to book a room with breakfast as there is no eateries around this area. Best to start the day with food before exploring the next adventure. Breakfast have a wide selection of food and many choices. Hungry in the middle of the night they only option is the hotel 24hrs room service. There is a 24hrs Chinese local hotpot at the nearby Suning Plaza. Free shuttle (A private car) by hotel to Suning Plaza a mall about 10-15min walk but I would not risk walking as you need to walk thru several construction sites at this moment. Hotel have an airport transfer (Private car) 50RMB one way per person. Reasonable priced. I paid more as the taxi driver took many rounds up the many bridges in Fuzhou to charge me a metered 200RMB (include a 30RMB toll). Usual older looking taxi had a lower starting fare at 10RMB (first 3km) premium taxi will have 15RMB (first 3km). Metered taxi to Gushan (Drum Moutain) gate 40RMB Metered Premium taxi to Xichan temple gate 15RMB Metered Premium taxi to Nanhou Street (Walking street in Three Lanes Seven Alley Sanfangqixiang) 25RMB Metered taxi to Suning mall 10RMB Issues I encountered during my stay: I came to this hotel on their official opening ceremony Friday night. Staffs and security closed the driveway and road outside the hotel. I had to drag my luggage into the hotel for check-in without any assistance. The official opening event also made the hotel cancel the free shuttle service. Its kind of inconvenience for first time visitor to Fuzhou. I was given a complimentary welcome drink. However at the lobby lounge there is always NO staff on the waiting. Need to ask the reception for assistance. Housekeeping did not clean my room on one of the days. I did hang the "clean up my room" tag on the door. The house claimed my "Do not disturb" light is on. I am not inside the room for the whole day from 10am to 6pm. Not sure did the hotel housekeeping give a courtesy call to check whether I need the housekeeping service or dropped a note to have my...
Read moreThis hotel had one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever encountered. While my phone could connect to the internet, my laptop couldn't, so I contacted the front desk. However, they kept insisting there was no issue and blamed it on my use of a VPN. I explained that I couldn't even access basic sites like Baidu, but instead of properly addressing the issue, I had to explain the situation all over again to a different staff member.
When I told this new staff member that the internet was extremely slow and unstable, I asked if they had a signal booster. She said she would check and get back to me, but then just kept repeating that everything was working fine on their monitor. How does that help me when my own computer can't connect? Are they implying I'm lying?
When I asked them to come up to my room and check for themselves, they refused and instead told me to call the internet provider myself. It's absurd that a business hotel can't even provide a stable internet connection. The next morning, the so-called manager admitted that this had happened before but was never properly addressed, so they would contact the internet provider again.
This experience was yet another example of the frustrating lack of accountability I’ve repeatedly encountered in China. Their unwillingness to take responsibility, even for basic customer service, is truly...
Read moreMy recent sojourn at the Crowne Plaza Fuzhou Riverside was a journey of comfort with a side of constructive critique. The hotel's positioning is commendable, nestled conveniently near bustling commercial districts, making it an ideal spot for travelers seeking both serenity and the pulse of the city. The lounge's culinary offerings hit the mark of mediocrity, providing a reliable if unremarkable dining experience. My accommodation in a cozy corner room offered a pleasant view, yet it was marred by a noticeable layer of dust, suggesting a lapse in the rigorous pursuit of cleanliness. However, the hotel's approach to acknowledging IHG member benefits seemed sparing, a touch of parsimony that could dampen the spirits of those accustomed to the warm embrace of loyalty rewards. Additionally, a hint of impatience from the staff when managing hotline inquiries underscores the importance of nurturing a culture of patience and understanding in customer service. In essence, Crowne Plaza Fuzhou Riverside stands as a beacon of practicality, well-suited for travelers in transit or those seeking a no-frills base. Yet, the journey towards excellence is paved with attention to detail, from cleanliness to customer care, setting the stage for an experience that transcends...
