The FTCH is a very pleasant place to spend a few days. The rooms were clean and of a good size; in addition to the two beds in the room we were able to fit in a twin sized roll away for our daughter and still have room to move. The lobby is lovely and the rooms are nicely decorated as well, with fresh flowers in the rooms. The rooms also have a stocked mini refrig and hot pot for boiling water. Additionally, two free bottles of water were provided daily.||My daughter enjoyed the hotel pool which, while not heated, is indoors, making it available for use year round (unlike at least one other well known hotel in this city which has an outdoor pool which is closed during cooler weather.) There are locker rooms with shower facilities available adjacent to the pool, and towels are supplied in the locker rooms. Also, whenever we used the pool there was an attendant on duty to watch the swimmers.||The FTCH had several restaurants. We frequented the main restaurant on several occassions. It featured a buffet for all three meals. Breakfast usually had a nice mixture of western and asian dishes. Lunch and dinner tended more to asian type fare, with a heavy emphasis on seafood.||There is a salon on the first floor. There were several hair stylist available as well as young women who provided manicures, pedicures, and facials. I believe massages were available through the salon. (The English language capabilities of the salon staff were not nearly as good as those staff who worked at the registration desk. )|||The hotel is in the very urban downtown/financial district area. It has a few nice shops off the lobby. There is also shopping a brief taxi ride away. There are several good restaurants within...
Read moreThis is a hotel I usually stay when I travel to Fuzhou merely for the convenience as it is near where I do my business. It is a pretty old hotel but the lobby and breakfast is very big and spacious. ||I usually stay in a corner semi-circular room (they call it fan-shape room) which has a suite free to it, with sofa set and is very comfortable and spacious. Even it is not a luxury hotel but it provides you with bath robe, slippers, 3 kinds of towels in pairs and 2 big bottles of mineral water and a clean kettle. This hotel also is in the hot spring zone so the water you get is hot spring water, but I don't dare to take a hot bath in the bathtube as the mat looks pretty old and dated...||For breakfast, I eat it to survive.... one thing that irks me was a little cockroach crawling at the buffet counter top... since that day, every time I eat there the image came back to haunt me.||My advice is, if you can eat elsewhere, do that. The spread is pretty decent but what disturbed me was the missing normal chinese soup spoon. I wonder why they provide a western soup spoon when the food are mainly oriental.||||Overall, except for the little uninvited guest at the breakfast area, I think this is ok to stay for the location and if you are not fussy. Last note: the concierge young men are very polite and helpful and are the most courteous staff...
Read moreThis hotel is really a great value for money! I am very pleased that I chose this hotel. All staff at the hotel tries very hard to satisfy the customers. I can see that most staff is well trained by the hotel's management. Despite being an older hotel, everything is well maintained. I will definitely stay at this hotel again the next time I visit Fuzhou. Management, great hotel, great job !Just to offer a comment for further improvement:I don't know why the restaurant staff doesn't seem to have a habit of collecting empty dishes during a buffet to the extent that table-top space gets very crowded. A number of times, there were waiters/waitresses standing next to my table. Although they were not busy, they still did not remove my stacking empty dishes. The staff does not seem to be lazy people. Perhaps they have not been instructed to do so. This is an unusual practice for...
