First of all, I think that this hotel was absolutely beautiful. Everything from the lobby to the marble details in my room - it was very elegant and even hosted a wedding during our stay there.||||However the first major (MAJOR) problem is that the staff didn't really speak English, with one exception. I think her name was Dorophee, but if she wasn't there, we couldn't get help with ANYTHING at all. I travel to China for business from time to time and I know that even in Beijing or Shanghai, it's hard to find great English-speakers, but this case was particularly bad. They were all nice and wanted to be helpful, but just couldn't do it. ||||The other issue we had is a minor complaint, but just a head's up for other travelers. We felt that the restaurant/bar prices were identical to what we'd pay at a comparable hotel in the US. I mean an EXPENSIVE hotel in the US. My husband and I had a couple of beers and appetizers at the bar and paid $78 dollars. A ton of money considering that the waiter didn't understand us well enough to get the order right. ||||Overall, I want to stress that we are the most flexible people on the planet, and have gone everywhere from one star hotels in remote locations to even staying in a yurt in Mongolia. We are NOT picky and will adapt when people don't speak English. However, when we're staying at an upscale hotel with US prices, we expect that the hotel hire employees that have basic communication skills. We'll do our part and speak slowly and be patient, but expect that for the level of hotel, we can be understood when we ask for a taxi to...
Read moreI recently stayed at Chateau Star River Guangzhou and had a wonderful experience, thanks to the exceptional cleanliness, prime location, and outstanding service.Upon arrival, I was impressed by the immaculate condition of the hotel. My room on the 17th floor was spotless and elegantly furnished, offering all the comforts one could desire. However, I did encounter some construction noise from the 23rd floor, which disrupted my initial peace. When I brought this issue to the front desk's attention, they responded swiftly and professionally. The staff provided several options to move to a quieter room on a lower floor. Their quick response and willingness to accommodate my needs were truly commendable. I chose a room on a lower level, which was much quieter and equally pristine. The hotel's location is another standout feature. Conveniently situated near key attractions and shopping districts, it made exploring Guangzhou incredibly easy and enjoyable. Despite the city's hustle and bustle, the hotel itself felt like a serene oasis. The service at Chateau Star River Guangzhou is top-notch. From the friendly and efficient check-in process to the attentive staff throughout my stay, every interaction was marked by genuine hospitality. In summary, despite the initial hiccup with construction noise, the cleanliness, prime location, and outstanding service made my stay at Chateau Star River Guangzhou a memorable one. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning...
Read moreImpressive large bathroom with bathtub and double basins in the suite room No. 2002. It has a smart screen on the mirror that was supposed to be able to show movies for guests to enjoy while taking a bath. Unfortunately that device was not connected to the internet depsite the successful connection to the hotel wifi network, so it is useless and wasted my time trying to disconnect and reconnecting to the network, so I suggest the hotel to look into this issue. Other features include the seperate lounge room that has no window so it relies on the sunlight from the bedroom for natural light. The balconies in the bedroom are locked and inaccessible. Overall the furniture and decoration in the room are of high quality and up market. The hotel uses a robot for delivery of meals (including items ordered from the outside). The indoor and outdoor pools are huge and I did enter them and swim for a few munites until I was stopped by the lifeguard rudely questioning where my swim cap was. I told him that I didn't have one and nobody or sign asked me to have one. He was concerned that my short hair could pollute the water of the pool. He said everyone was supposed to wear a swim cap. I would have followed the rule if I was told in advance. The way the lifeguard shouted at me made me feel disrespected. So I wish the hotel could put up some signs to clearly communicate the rules before guests...
