After asking for an upgrade to a suite via chat, we were finally given a suite for the next 5 days. Luckily, the person who served us at the reception also spoke English so check-in went smoothly. Because we were Titanium Members, we were given a free upgrade to a suite, free late-checkout until 16.00, free welcome gift 1,000 points, free breakfast, free lounge access. |When we entered the room, because it was a new hotel, all the designs were very modern and futuristic, the materials used were very luxurious, the room layout was functional and not boring. Even the bathtub door could be opened and closed facing the living room. In the living room there was a luggage rack, cupboard, cupboard containing a minibar and drinks, chairs and work desk, L-shaped sofa, lounge chair and coffee table along with a TV and long seating and also a toilet for guests. In the bedroom there was only a sofa, mattress and TV which maximized the room for resting. The mattress was comfortable and 4 pillows were provided. Staying at Marriott, our minibar was once filled with 15 bottles of mineral water so that we would not be thirsty. The view of the room given to the mountain view.|The bathroom area has 2 wardrobes for changing clothes, a bathtub with a door that can be opened to the living room, 2 washbasins, a toilet with a heated seat and control buttons, and also a shower equipped with a rain shower and hand shower that can be turned on simultaneously. Complete amenities and filled every day, for the brand using thisworks (previously the standard Marriott was thann, now changed to thiswork, I prefer thann). For the suite, all sanitary ware uses the Hansgrohe brand and uses a gold/bronze brass finish. Very luxurious. Towels are also changed every day and 3 body towels, 3 hand towels and 3 face towels are provided.|The facilities available are a gym, swimming pool (indoor), various gardens and landscapes typical of Chinese gardens, and a cool walking area around the hotel. For swimming pools in China (both in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen), every time we swim we are required to wear a head covering that covers our hair. It is mandatory. Then every swimming pool in China, there is a pool for soaking feet and a shower that we must pass through to get to the swimming pool|Because Titanium Elite, there is a club lounge that is used for working and relaxing. In China, most club lounges are open during the day, which is around 13.00 to 24.00. During afternoon tea, the menu served is only soft drinks and cookies. Read moreThis is a new hotel in a large complex of Marriott affiliated brands, well landscaped and developed. It is a very pleasant place to wander around with beautiful garden areas. The build quality of the Marriott is excellent, very high end and well designed.||Room was not quite ready on time but they eventually assigned us a better room which was appreciated. Front desk seems a bit inexperienced but well intentioned and polite.||Good recognition of Marriott status benefits, with a nice suite and lounge access. Room was comfortable with excellent bedding and bathroom design, with washlet toilet seats. Lots of windows and light. ||We were concerned about the location but ended up enjoying it. Great metro access with the station just across from the hotel, close enough to the airport for a reasonable taxi/didi ride but nowhere near enough to hear plane noise. Short didi ride to Baiyun mountain park which is lovely. Short subway ride to Yuexiu and other areas downtown. And just in general lots of nice paths and places to wander around for a walk or morning run and much more peaceful than many parts of Guangzhou.|We come to Guangzhou several times a year and have stayed at many different Western chain hotels and this was one of the best. We liked it better than the Marriotts in Tianhe area. The rate was good too during our stay, in spite of the Canton Fair going on, much more reasonable than other hotels and a very good value.||Two suggestions for improvement (though I'm still going with five stars because we enjoyed it so much): the club lounge was great for evening happy hour, with different cocktails each night, a live noodle station with delicious rice noodles, and a good salad bar. But the afternoon tea was very basic, and the lounge doesn't even open until 2:30 p.m. Just some low end Western pastries and muffins for afternoon tea. A hotel of this caliber should do a proper Asian afternoon tea with more substantial food- and they should open earlier. Also, the breakfast, while a huge and impressive spread, was not very vegetarian friendly at all. They put me at or fish in almost everything, even most of the vegetables. I know this can be a problem in China, but other hotels do a much better job of offering some meat free dishes. I eventually found a few things I could eat, but it's frustrating when 95% of the beautiful buffet is not suitable for vegetarians. There should be some tofu and pure vegetable dishes every morning. I even spoke to the F and B manager about it and he said he would take care of it, but the next morning, same thing, meat in almost everything, Again a hotel of this caliber can and should do better.||In spite of this, we would consider giving this hotel a try again in the future, hoping they improve their F and B...
