when we first got to china we had found out that our first hotel cancelled our hotel reservations , so at 2 am we picked some sort of scummy hotel that scared us we stayed there one night and stumbled upon king garden hotel the very next morning by coming on to trip adviser, and we immediately moved there , upon getting there the first thing we noticed was the security, and that was a refreshing feeling considering we came all the way from Canada, as we got in there the people were pretty friendly and tried very hard to speak english and to make us feel comfortable, they even gave us a deal, we asked for a non smoking room but when we got to our room/floor all we could smell was smoke and with us both being allergic to smoke it made it very hard to breath, but who stays in the hotel anyways right?! as we were in china to shop for our salon, we went and asked front desk where the markets where and they were very nice and wrote a couple down for us in Chinese to show a taxi cab to take us there , when we came back we did try their one restaurant for supper when we got back , we found that the staff in there were very rude and there was one very sweet boy that tried very hard to speak English and if he couldn't say it he showed us, when we tipped him ( as most Canadians do) the one female staff member walked over and tried to take his tip that he worked very hard for!, in the morning we had asked to switch rooms as the bell boy was very nice and moved everything while we went for breakfast, breakfast they had a lot of selection, we had to ask for forks, as we couldn't use chop sticks as well as everyone else could ;) and everyone in there was very pushy, we came to get use to it after a couple days , we did see a couple rats in there , which was a huge shock to us, I've never seen a rat in my life and i went running out of there! the hotel does have a very nice pool and a tennis court i believe , but we never used these as we were hardly there , and as we were there they did have a fair bit of construction going on but it didn't start early at all so we didn't mind , and when it was time to check out they called an airport cab for us and called up to see if we needed any help with our bags! the only real big complaint we had is half way threw or stay we got locked out of our room and we had a huge argument with them cuz there was a mix up and they thought that we didn't pay for the full 13 days , come to find out they put half the reservation under my name and the other half under my business partners name .. oh and also, if you want to change money, there is banks all the way down the street that is very happy to help you , you walk to the end of the drive way and turn right, walk a block and there is bank after bank! and if you want to go out for an evening of dancing , there is a club right across the street, and its very trendy as well as the most fun i have ever had in a club, as well they are open late , we left at 4am and it was still packed! we will for sure stay here again, as we are headed back...

Morning buffet is ok considering you are in china.... you can get Sandwich bread , butter and egg, rest of the menu is chinese which no outsider can eat. breakfast time is till 9:30 am but they stop replenishing the cheffing dishes at 9am. If you ask for something you are bluntly told it is finished. so to even get a boiled egg reach well in time for the breakfast. ||||The reception staff is at their worst behaviour. They had our booking but showed ignorance that we have made the booking and insisted on fresh booking to be done on double the rates from of what we paid to our travel agent in India and when we made them talk to our local contact in china , they relented and gave us the room. next night when we came back to the hotel , they locked us out of the room for non payment of charges. We had tough time explaining to them that our booking is done with them in advance and they need to check their records. Due to this behaviour we decided to check out of this hotel next morning. The next morning the reception staffs worst behaviour was on display. The reception staff pretended that they do not know English and kept on saying Money Money , if we are checking out. When we said we will not give money as our agent has already made the booking and we have the email confirmation, the lady at the reception counter shouted , give your mobile, gold chain. then we called our agent in India and told him every thing and he got back to us after fifteen minutes and said that we need to go to their sales office and tell them to check the mail on the specified date when the booking was made. As all this issue took around three hours and we were thirsty , we asked them for water to drink and the receptionist angrily shouted "NO WATER". one of us went to the sales office to check the mail . It took him five minutes to trace the mail which made our booking. The lady in sales showed ignorance about this mail . When we took print out of this mail and gave it to the receptionist , showing our booking, suddenly she learnt to speak english and confirmed that it is our booking and allowed us to check out. Before this printout the lady only spoke in Chinese and refused to understand anything we said in English. and kept on saying money money. This was nothing but a ploy to flees us by the Hotel. A Pathetic ploy...
Read moreI am a frequent traveler. I never write any review. This is the first time because I became so annoyed. Went to Guangzhou and stayed in business suite for three nights. I have never seen such horrible service ever in my life. You call for any service and after calling many times one thing will be fulfilled. Staff is so rude as if they are paying you and you are staying for free. No one knows English at all. They have no swimming pool. You have to carry your own bag. I used to call room service for ice and they would just not send it for 3 consecutive night. Just don’t waste your money. Stay in a hostel then this rubbish hotel. A friend of mine came to visit me and they didn’t allow him to visit my room as it was 11 pm. And the security asked him to get out. Didn’t even know how to talk...
