Wassim Hotel — Hotel in Guangzhou City

Happy with this place.|Friendly enough for Chinese standards.|A 5-10 minute walk to Chigang Metro Station, and it is on the line for Canton Fair.|Canton fair they hike the prices, but you can't blame them. They even have a free shuttle bus to and from the hotel to the fair.|Some restaurant in the area, mainly Chinese food, but friendly and helpful.|There is a shop in the parking lot for convenience.|I wasn't a big fan of the breakfast, very Chinese style and not my cup of tea in a morning.|Corridors can get noisy with the locals, they now give me a quiet room to help me sleep through it.|Bathroom is clean and a good shower.|Rooms are clean, no minibar, but comfy enough for a business visit.|There is a Chinese restaurant in the hotel also for lunch and dinner, it was OK.|They have just renovated the reception a little with new furniture, looks better.|Reception staff are very helpful when they can help. First of all, the carpet is filthy and has blood stains everywhere. The hotel in general seems very unsanitary and seems like they haven’t vaccumed the room in years. Also was a toothpick beside the bed. The worst part was the putrid smell as soon as we opened the door. It smelled like we just walked into a crime scene and a dead body was laying on the floor that had been there for weeks. After my sister took a shower the bathroom smelled like a mixture of sewage and death. I couldn’t even bear to walk into it as I immediately started gagging. Bed is uncomfortable as well. Room was very nice and clean. Staff let me check out late for reasonable price when flight delayed. Raining caused a couple. My shower head was broken and My only other issue was the pool hours are not clear. The front desk told me open til 10:00 pm but then I couldn’t go at lunch time and told it’s not open and we can use after 2:00pm. We went to use at 4:30 and were told it closed at 17:00 and only had 30 minutes. Breakfast is a waste of time. I recommend going out somewhere. Honestly would stay again because room and pool were nice. But skip breakfast and plan the pool...
