Yutong International Hotel Guangzhou — Hotel in Guangzhou City

I stayed at this hotel for five nights a little before Christmas 2015. The hotel verges between a 3-star and 4-star. There are many good features of the hotel: The buffet breakfast is excellent; the toiletries and bathtub and shower are very good; the room is a reasonable size and the bed is very comfortable; and the maid service is quite good. On the more negative side, the free wifi is quite slow. It's usable most of the time, but it's not up to the quality I would like. Also, the hotel does not have an accessible staircase, which forces you to rely on the three elevators. With 27 floors in the hotel, you often have to wait a long time for an elevator. My room was on the 26th floor, and I would have preferred to go up to it by stairs, but that was impossible. Finally, for foreign guests who don't know Chinese, this hotel might be difficult to stay in. The staff are friendly and helpful, but very few of them know any English. If I hadn't been able to communicate to them in Chinese, I wouldn't have been able to get a couple of problems in the room fixed. They did take care of the problems very well, but that was only because I was able to explain them in Chinese. Stayed at the hotel during Canton Fair. During the fair prices are too high and in the hotel too. Hotel nice, modern. To the fair is free shuttle bus service. I stayed at this hotel for a week during Canton Fair and it was a very nice experience. The rooms are very nice and clean, nice bathroom, good air conditioner and very comfortable beds. I came every day exhausted after a day of business in the extremely big fair and the Hotel offered a nice retreat. When I first arrived, I found the room smelling of cigarettes but apparently in China they don't take the no smoking sign very seriously...
