Riverside Retreat Hotel — Hotel in Guilin

We stayed here for two nights for our trip to Yangshuo to explore the draw-dropping local scenery. Can't compliment the hotel enough. Jacky, the proprietor was so helpful he arranged for a driver to pick us up from Guilin West train station and take us directly to the hotel for a very reasonable price considering its was a 90min drive.||When we arrived, even though we had booked the room on the top floor, he suggested an alternative which he thought would be better a floor below as it had nicer views and its own balcony and allowed us to have it for no extra cost. ||Jacky was also so helpful answering our questions about booking activities or contacting our next hotel by phone to ensure we had all the right information to get us to our onward bus to the Lonji Rice Terraces.||The room was clean, had air con and stunning views of the surrounds. The hotel is located in a very tranquil area and you can take a 10-15min walk down to the Li river and hop on a cross river ferry that drops you off at Youngshou town itself.||A taxi back to the hotel costs only 30RMB||We had a couple of nice breakfasts here, enjoyed a few cold beers and rum while watching the sun set on the terrace and also gratefully availed of the lovely, well cleaned swimming pool after a long days cycle through the nearby Younlong river scenic park.||A really wonderful experience staying here, thanks to Jacky and all the rest of the staff...

"Retreat" is definitely the right word to qualify this hotel. Specially if you've spent a few hours in the rush and noise in downtown Yangshuo. To enjoy calm and the breathtaking beauty of the mountains in the sunset... or any other time, is just magical. I could do that from my balcony or from the patio while having dinner. The chinese food is genuine and generous. This is a family-owned hotel and family members are the staff. All of them really do whatever they can to satisfy you. Two cousins are in charge of the clients and their english is satisfying enough for good communication. To go to Yangshuo, you have to take a peaceful 10 minutes long walk down to the river and a ferry will take you over in five minutes. Everything was so awesome - hiking and riding too - so I decided to stay one day more than planned. As you understand, I warmly recommend Riverside...

Stayed with my family including 2 children. Staff very helpful and polite and very good English. They helped us arrange a private taxi to take us to specific places in town, and a private taxi for a whole day to drive us to multiple sites and wait in between (400 yuan for about 8 hours). The food was very good. We had breakfast there every day; my kids loved the banana pancakes and the yogurt with fresh fruit and the fresh fruit juices. Room was very nice and spacious with a separate area for the children. It is about a 15 minute walk to the ferry, then 10 minutes walk to town after the ferry, or a 15 minute taxi ride for 30 yuan to...
