Sheraton Hefei Xinzhan Hotel — Hotel in Hefei

This is my 5th stay in Sheraton Hefei Xinzhan Hotel within the last 12 months. Usually don't stay long in the hotel as mostly out for meetings and dinners. Caught the flu bug whilst transiting in Beijing and arrived in Hefei feeling ill. As a result, was grounded in hotel for couple of days and consumed most meals in-house. Staff at FEAST were very attentive and Smile Qian in particular went out of her way to prepare cooling tea upon learning that I'm having fever, without my asking. Probably due to late arrival on June 12, as placed in a smoking room. As I'm having flu, wasn't sensitive to the smoking smell and didn't request for a room change. However when I recover and could smell the dour smoke smell in the room, I immediately request for a room change. Front Office staff Nana immediately organize my room change request efficiently without any fuss. Regret that whilst moving my personal items to the new room, a Housekeeping staff was standing guide in the previous room and watched me "like a hawk", as if afraid I'd be removing hotel items from the room? Must compliment Housekeeping staff who have been cleaning #736 (previous room) as my initial instruction to place additional 2 bottles of drinking water (I need to take medication) was followed throughout my six-night stay. All said and done, this six-night stay (extended due to my illness) was still a pleasant experience as I've encountered many helpful staff; perhaps due to the leadership of the ever-present Vincent Zhang who never fail to ask if I needed help whenever I meet him in the...

I like to visit the new Starwood hotels as they open in China. This Sheraton has only been open for a couple of months, but it definitely stands out from the other new guys in town (town = China).

One of the biggest problems in Chinese hotels, of any level, is the competency of the staff. Based on my experience here so far, and I've visited just about every place you can visit in this hotel (Spa, Business center, Gym, restaurants), the ability and friendliness of the staff beats any other Starwood property I've met here on the main,and, hands down. Everyone has performed their function well and been (or seemed) genuinely happy to help with whatever I've asked of them.

The only "problem" I encountered was at the Business center where they, for some reason, we're not able to charge my usage to my room. I didn't honestly mind that, but they were also unable to provide me with a receipt, which may not go over well with your CFO when he asks where the money went.

I had the pleasure of spending the better part of 2 months in this hotel. As an American working in China, this hotel met and exceeded my needs on every level. I was greeted every day by a delightful and friendly staff and treated like family. The hotel as a long stay facility was very cost effective compared to other hotels in the area. My room provided a relaxing environment to "come home" to every day. The selection of foods in the restaurant allowed me to adventure with the local cuisine but still allowed some familiar comfort food. I was there during the last quarter of the year and was very surprised to have "Thanksgiving turkey" on the menu and I really enjoyed the first annual lighting of the christmas tree celebration hosted by Mr. Tan and his lovely wife. I know that I will venture to China again someday and there is no doubt in my mind where I will stay. To that fact, I will definately stay at Starwood...
