I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Shangri-la Yiwu, and to say that I was disappointed would be an understatement - Upon arrival, I was greeted, or rather not greeted, by staff who had no command of the English language, an oversight that I found both astonishing and inconvenient in a hotel that claims to cater to international guests.
The ordeal began with the air conditioning in my initial room refusing to emit anything resembling cool air, a necessity in the humid environment of Yiwu...... After attempting to communicate the issue to the staff, an exercise in futility given the language barrier, I was eventually relocated to another room.
To my dismay, in the midst of night, the air conditioning in my new sanctum surrendered to the same fate as the previous one, leaving me enveloped in an uncomfortable warmth that robbed me of a restful night’s sleep.
The quality of the rooms was as subpar as the AC. I was subjected to a disarray of details that one wouldn’t expect in a self-respecting lodging establishment, let alone a hotel of the Shangri-la’s purported caliber.
In essence, my stay at the Shangri-la Yiwu was marred by ineffective communication, malfunctioning amenities, and a pervasive lack of quality. It is an experience I am keen to forget and have no intention of repeating. One would be wise to seek accommodation elsewhere when visiting the charming...
Read moreThis hotel was nothing short of exceptional.. the food, accommodations and staff courtesies were amazing!!! We have previously stayed at another upscale hotel in Yiwu but the service there was absolutely horrendous. If you are going to YIWU you MUST stay at the Shangri-La, the service is impeccable, between Carmen at the front desk, David in the restaurant and the most amazing of the all Wu, I cannot brag enough about every aspect of my stay there. The food was amazing (brunch and restaurants, executive lounge), the hotel rooms were incredible and the service was fantastic. I typically stay at five star hotels when I travel and while there are no 5 star hotels in Yiwu, the Shangri-La should definitely be one!!! We go to Yiwu 2x-3x per year with 10-15 people and will 100% be staying here from now on. Thanks to the management for creating an environment where the team truly cares about making a guest...

Swimming pool was closed for all my stay- one of main points why I choose SL! I wrote a complain- no contact
Horizon club- instead of use related 2h meeting room, I invited 1 guest for short meeting in club, we had just a one coffee for crazy overpriced as 98RMB (!). Moreover, instead talk to me, staff was talking about it in Chinese to my guest who was invited by me!
There was ash beside my bad in non-smoking room. And some hairs...
Elevator had just cut off hand-rails, I destroyed my shirt due to sharp endings unprotected!
Crazy long check out (more that 15min)
And at the end, instead of ordered shuttle cab, which should be price included due to hotel conditions, I had to go to train station by normal taxi, and pay for it. It is not a subject of 40rmb, but unkept promises....
