The hotel is quite far from anything, it's literally at the end of a very long road, walking outside there is not even a convenience store. Only real way into town is via bus, we found most taxi drivers were unwilling to drive us back because it was too far.||||The restaurant food there is over priced and small servings, the breakfast buffet is not exactly the best either with little variety and not worth the cost. ||||The room itself - size is good but it's quite old, there is not even a room light - everything is via lamps so it's quite dark. Both beds were quite hard. The shower itself was old and didn't look too clean. You have to jiggle the tap to get it working. Our room had free internet but not free wifi, do take this into account if you book.||||The staff themselves were generally quite nice but mostly did not have many English speaking staff - they also helped us organize a day tour but neglected to tell us that the tour would not drop us off at the hotel and we had to make our own way back from the city centre after pretty much being dumped at a central train station. They were apologetic about this but if our friend was not able to translate it would have been much more difficult. ||||The balcony view is good if you get a view of the lake, it is quite scenic.||||It seems that most people staying here are using it for conferences, I would have to advise to stay elsewhere if you are not using it for a conference, it's simply too remote and inconvenient...
Read moreThis is a huge hotel with many, many rooms. Just waking through the corridors from the lobby to the more far flung rooms can be pretty time consuming. The hotel has a private lake and the scenery is lovely. Ducks and geese wander the lawns and there are enclosures with rabbits and peacocks, something that is bound to amuse young children. The rooms are showing their age as the property does need some minor face lifts. The are however clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are clean but lack amenities so it would be prudent to bring ones personal toiletries along.||The breakfast buffet is sumptuous but largely inclined towards Chinese cuisine. Eggs, toast, pastries and baked beans were on offer as well.||Dragon gate hill and Niier's tomb (the composer of China's national anthem i think) are nearby as well as a large park abutting the main Dian lake.||Free wifi is available and unlike a previous reviewer, while i did not interact much with staff, they seemed reasonably proficient in English. ||The pool is somewhat small, abutting a spa of some kind.||||There are a couple of other restaurants, but only Chinese cuisine is on offer. The one which was patronised served above average food.||||Downtown Kunming is a 20-30 minute taxi ride away at a minimum.||All in a very decent property which can be recommended for...
Read moreWas here for 2 nights to attend a friend's wedding. The hotel grounds and banquet halls are amazing for weddings and intimate ceremonies as it sits within the shores of the Jinyu Lake||The hotel has a mix of old and newly renovated rooms. The old rooms are really worn down as we could see as some of the other guests were unfortunate to get the older rooms. The newer ones are fitted with smart technology but are not completely furnished (our balcony had no furniture at all)||Amenities were complete in the room and all other room facilities were working fine. Bed was ok and not hard so we could get a good night's rest.||The hotel is also situated to the Dianchi lake and other scenic spots but some ways away from the Kunming city center and given the 50-50 chance that you get an older room - I would go for other similar rated hotels instead with a more...
