Hilton Lanzhou City Center — Hotel in Lanzhou

There’s a reason this hotel has a rating of 5 stars from ALL reviewers except just one.|It opened a couple of years ago during the time of Covid, so it’s really been open for business for about a year.||The location is central and near a subway.|The rooms are totally 5 star level with new everything and soft, comfortable bed sheets. |We were lucky enough to get upgraded to a suite due to our Diamond status. It’s worth it to pay the extra $ if you can, as the suites are like being home with a spacious living room and large sofas, dining table and another big tv. |The view from up high allows you views of the whole city.||The water temperature of the pool was consistently perfect - around 28-29 degrees C. |The sauna worked perfectly as well. Nice and hot! |My wife used the 24 hour gym almost daily.||I’m usually very picky when it comes to poor service or a room not having heat etc, but everything really worked perfectly. Rooms were toasty warm as I set the thermostat to 25-26 C.||So much was automated like the curtains, and even the toilet. The top rises when you walk into the bathroom. The toilet seat is heated and it’s actually a bidet. ||Lanzhou is the hub of Northwest China. It’s the place to start a visit to the ancient Silk Road including 2 deserts, popular grottos and other places. The high speed train also stops in Langzhou. ||The breakfast buffet is as complete as you can imagine. Location is good, staff friendly and able to speak English, very helpful and nice. The room was decently decorated however there were a few inconveniences you would not expect from Hilton. Curtains were missing, noticed too late, in the morning the light was so bright through the sheer, my sleep was disturbed. The room was extremely hot (27 degrees celsius) while the ac was working it still felt too hot. The mattresses felt somewhat different from other Hilton hotels. I struggled falling asleep and kept waking up throughout the night. The internet speed is locked behind a Hilton membership (2025, having wifi locked behind membership is insane) The bathtub didn’t have any toiletries nearby, if you want to take a bath and wash yourself you will have to get out of the bathtub and reach for the shower gel or whatever else you need or bring your toiletries with you and put them next to the bathtub before getting in. The view was nice however the sofa in front of the big windows with the city view had stains and dark spots on it making it a bit uncomfortable to sit on it...
