The breakfast food variety was mostly local with some items such as sausages, eggs, pastries and cereals for Western taste buds. Our favourite were of course the local selection, including the beef noodles – which was the “Sichuan-style” that we were searching for since the start of the trip! But as it was quite oily (true authentic style), we only limited ourselves to a small, but shiok bowl. We also had the non-spicy noodles – all of which were made ala minute, which tasted like a beefy pho. Really good as well. As the noodles are made fresh, you’d probably have to queue, especially during the morning peak hours. Having the time to chill at breakfast this morning, also meant that we were there during the “off-peak” hours where we could get our noodles without much of a queue. Most of the local items were actually quite tasty, similar to tastes that we’d get from a Sichuan restaurant in Singapore.
We also got to try the Sichuan Dou Hua (豆花) which is the savoury version – unlike the sweet version we’d get in Singapore. We didn’t really like it – probably first because Dou Hua is supposed to be sweet for us but secondly because it was more of the corn starch gravy and less of the Dou Hua in this dish, so we couldn’t really taste the Dou Hua per se. Lastly, there’s chili and other savoury ingredients that we’re…not really sure what to make of it. Still, we’re glad to have tried this at the hotel instead of searching for the dish in the streets and still be disappointed.
The outdoor hot springs area of Yu Quan Wan Jiu Dian (峨眉御泉湾) aka Royal Spring Hotel is another huge area to explore. If you refer to the map, it spans another 30 hot spring pools. Although not all the hot springs were operating while we were there, there were sufficient hot springs for us to check out and enjoy. During our visit, we didn’t see more than 5 of us in total. This meant that most of the time, we had the hot springs to ourselves.
There were several areas of the hot springs that we enjoyed.
Firstly, the infinity pool. The infinity pool is like a huge swimming pool that is actually heated – not to a warm temperature, but to a nice 28/29 degrees that even on a cold day, you’d be able to swim in. There are views to the nearby Xian Xia Ju Ji Xiao Zhen (仙侠居集小镇) aka Village of the Diety and Heroes – an artificially constructed village in Leshan, which is why it’s so beautifully designed.
Secondly, the massage water jets. Just like the streams that massaged our shoulders at Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel, we enjoyed the various water jets while lying down and standing up that massaged our muscles in the various hot springs.
Lastly, because there were not many people during our visit, we felt that it was an exclusive experience for us. We were able to try out all the spa pools, chilling with tea at the various rest house (complimentary for guests) and then revisit another hot spring. A relaxing and rejuvenating experience. 3 hours just zoomed past while we soaked, chilled, rinse...
Read moreExcellent hotel, but the cheapest room is in another tower, about 10 minutes walking from the room to reach the hot springs . The best deal is to get breakfast and dinner included , as dinner is far better than breakfast and not crowded at all. For dinner there is hot pot and also buffet with sushi, bbq, the best brownie I have ever eaten in my life. Excellent deal !The hot springs is excellent and it is opened from 13:30 until 23:30, so u was able to go twice there. The best moments in my stay was when a person decided to smoke at the buffet area and the staff shouted at him because it is not allowed to smoke . Also a lady at the hot springs was super cool to shout at a boy who was climbing some dangerous walls and she said if he wanted to get sent to the room in punishment and he decided to behave after that. The only thing that made me disappointed was when I went to the toilet in the dinner buffet and a staff was eating and smoking and decided to use the toilet without removing his gloves. I hope he didn’t go back to work without changing his plastic gloves and touch the food again. At all the hotel is really nice, with table tennis and billiard table, one Xbox to play video game, comfy room .Breakfast is a big chaos, too many people .Congrats on the staff to handle so many people in the hotel and make everything work very well. I will recommend to others and I will...
