We stayed at building 7 hot spring room at the resort because of the private hot spring tub in the room. The location is beautiful nothing to complain about. Receptionists were nice but probably a bit under trained as they were quite unknowledgeable about their own facilities. The room was spacious and nice however wasn't very clean (i.e. two big blobs of white stain on the tatami flooring, dusty carpet, mirrors in the bathroom not wiped down -toothpaste stains from previous guests, and the bathroom bench were also not wiped down, frankly after that I didn't really trust anything else.) Trust me I am not a clean freak but even I noticed this... we tried the onsen bath in our room and I really doubt whether the water that they claim is Onsen water is real (it just seemed like normal hot water to me ) AND there was a GINORMOUS wasp!! Although to be fair they did get rid of it for us very promptly. Finally Breakfast was very underwhelming.
All in all I don't think this place is worth the price. Definitely don't need to go for the hot spring room. I think the place could be better with some decent scrubbing and cleaning But for now I wouldn't...
Read moreOur tour guide warned us that the rooms had a very musty odor due to humidity but that doesn't mean the carpet should look like a high school football team had a party!! We stayed in the Executive Rooms that looked out into the jungle through a wall of windows that few hotels could of compared to but it felt like the management was investing money in some parts of the complex but not others. Overall, our room was run down but then we'd go to a different complex for breakfast and it looked like it was just remodeled. ||||This hotel has numerous outbuildings so you can walk a ways to get from one building to another(or call to have a shuttle pick you up). There are beautiful trails through the woods but be cautions as some of them can be incredibly slippery due to the humidity level. Take some time to visit the lake during the day and night to get photos of the reflections! Amazing. ||||It's an easy walk into town to visit all the markets at night and enjoy the commotion. When you're done, buy a bottle of wine to relax with while looking out your hotel window and imagine what's moving through the woods just beyond...
Read moreWe booked a three week China tour through China Odyssey (Guilin China) with 5 star hotels. All were just about perfect: some exceptional. This one was a bust. The bed had a platform supporting a Box Spring (with mattress cover). No mattress. It was like sleeping on a park bench. The meal options were by far less palatable than any other property stayed at... both Chinese and western cuisine. Early in the morning, I went to the lobby and while there heard some snoring... the night watch guard was snoozing. Our TA suggests, there are very few places to stay around here. Well, I guess when you are the only game in town, you can offer poor service and people will accept it. If your a westerner looking for good food and a comfy place: look elsewhere. The pool / health club facilities were extensive, however, a good cleaning in most areas would spruce it up a bit. Lots of maintenance and cleaning to really make this place close to a 5 star property. Stay in Chengdu. I would never recommend this property, under...
