We were trying out the Fairmont brand for the first time, as it is out of our normal price range in Shanghai, and it was really an awesome experience. We were met kindly at the reception on the ground floor and not only led up to the reception, but all the way up to check in at the Executive Lounge, and then to our room by the same friendly member of staff. I have forgotten his name after a month, but luckily mentioned it to the manager at the time. ||||We were upgraded from a regular exec room to a two bathroom suite with large lounge area, great bedroom with huge tv, separate dressing area and cupboards, heated floor and lovely bath area in the main bathroom, excellent standard of fixtures, and just a truly luxurious feel. I felt a little like an influencer trying out the best in the city, and had to take a video and send to friends just to show them. Did I mention that all of this was looking out on a great view of the Chang Jiang from the 60th floor, and that the TV had a named and personal greeting for us when we turned it on. It was a truly great New Year experience.||||We are not much with using facilities, but we did have breakfast for a few days, and the choice is vast. As a Brit, I was thrilled to find that they had one of my local sauces that I love to have with breakfast, but is not even available to buy in China in most places (HP). There were stations set up all around the restaurant in a square that goes all around the building, with a great view, and although the stations were a little too far apart for a breakfast collection stroll, the staff offered to bring things to us, looked after us, and were super courteous.||||The Executive lounge was also an excellent place to stay for dinner. Henry and Flora in the lounge made every interaction really pleasant, and their professionalism shone through. The lounge ladies did their best to speak some English, and looked after us really well, and the quality of alcohol and food was excellent. The lounge was virtually empty most of the time, but the spread was still extensive, and it really all added up to a top class experience. ||||Little did the lounge and hotel staff know but we have stayed in a great deal of Exec lounge rooms now in the last few years of being stuck in China, and this one came out near the top, and definitely beat the high end Marriott hotels that we have been spending a lot of time in.||||Even the Hotel manager came to speak to us personally and check on our stay. ||||The Fairmont was true quality service, which is surprisingly rare to get in China, and they should be on everyone's shortlist who wants a touch of...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Fairmont Hotel Nanjing, anticipating a luxurious experience synonymous with the Fairmont brand. Unfortunately, my stay was marred by several issues that fell short of the standards I expected.||Misleading Property Credit Information: My booking, made through a travel agent, included a promised $100 property credit, a significant factor in choosing this hotel. However, upon arrival, I was informed that half of this credit was exclusively for laundry services, a restriction that was neither communicated nor reasonable. This limitation not only felt deceptive but also greatly diminished the value and utility of the supposed benefit.||Subpar Room Maintenance: The room's condition significantly detracted from the overall experience. It felt outdated, and crucially, three out of four electrical outlets were non-functional. In today's digital age, adequate access to power sources is fundamental, and such a basic oversight is both surprising and unacceptable in a hotel of Fairmont's repute.||Issues with Complimentary Upgrade: Further adding to my dissatisfaction was the handling of a promised complimentary room upgrade. Despite assurances from my travel advisor, the hotel's front desk stated that an additional fee was required due to the seasonal price increase during the Chinese New Year. This contradicted the very essence of a 'complimentary' upgrade and seemed like a clear breach of agreement, leaving a sour taste regarding the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction.||These experiences collectively marred my stay, overshadowing what could have been a memorable visit. The essence of hospitality lies in transparency, reliability, and genuine care for guest satisfaction. Unfortunately, my experience at Fairmont Hotel Nanjing was a departure from these values. I hope the hotel addresses these concerns to prevent future guests from facing similar...
Read moreStayed October 2016. When I arrived at this hotel, it instantly launched itself into my Top 3 Hotels for Asia (Peninsula Bangkok and One Farrer Park Singapore the two others). The design of this hotel inside and out is unrivalled. Every little detail has been catered for. The dining inside the hotel is splendid. We went to the Chinese restaurant there and it was top-notch. The hotel is pretty much built on top of a massive shopping centre and is closely connected to public transport, meaning all the major attractions and markets are a stone throw away. Nanjing may not be your number 1 destination for your next holiday, but make it happen through a booking at this hotel. I stayed here for three days only and I fell in love with it over night. Nanjing is also a highly historical and cultural city of China, so with the right guides, I guarantee it'll be just as good as...
