I initially hesitated to book this hotel during a quick trip through Nanning - it looked well located, but having opened ten years ago you had to wonder how well it was aging versus some of the newer options (Crowne Plaza, Renaissance, Wanda, Lotus, etc). But - was quite happy we did as it met all our needs and was quite up to date given a solid renovation last year. Kudos to Marriott and the property owners for that - some of the other big Western brand locations seem to be increasingly aging in place in China…||Positives of this hotel:|- As a titanium member was upgraded to a high floor executive room…not huge (sometimes I don’t know what to do when they upgrade you to a suite for a short stay) but good twenty-something floor view out over the convention center. Very much contemporary Marriott furnishings - at least these rooms they renovated fully. |- Club lounge offered an extremely extensive evening selection. Actually it was so extensive it generated crowds of families effectively eating dinner (this was over the national holiday)|- Breakfast was quite solid too - broad selection, nice space (2nd floor). Bread tasted freshly baked.|- location is pretty convenient - the Hangyang mall connected and next door is pretty sizeable with lots of restaurants, a Walmart in the basement, and Starbucks practically outside the hotel door. For unknown potentially pandemic regulation reasons though the direct door from the hotel was locked. CR Mixc mall with more luxury brands is at the end of the block.||One drawback - I can’t remember having this loud of an AC system in this class of hotel in a long time.||Minor, but one aspect that didn’t wow me was the service especially at the door. When walking in with a bunch of luggage the doorman seemed to do more to block my path than even volunteer to help. Also, when trying to leave the hotel-controlled parking lot - the camera system had issues picking up our license plate - usually the response (when you can see we’re obviously just checked out) would be to just override and wave us out; this guard insisted on having us spend several minutes trying over and over to get the system to recognize us.||Overall a good stay and wouldn’t hesitate to make this a repeat if I end up...

Read moreThere are not too many international branded hotels in Nanning yet, though it is the capital of the Guangxi region, so if you want good service for a reasonable price then this hotel is the place to stay. I have been to Nanning twice before and for my third time here I still find this hotel the best option, where it is strategically located just under 5 minutes from the Convention & Exhibition Center metro station, just beside a major shopping center Admiral City Mall, and under 30 minutes via Nanning Metro to local tourist attractions like Chaoyang Square, Zhongshan Road, Sanjiliangxiang Traditional Streets, Qingxiu Mountain, Folk Song Lake and also both Nanning Railway Station and Nanning East Railway Station. There are also further attractions where you can arrange for a tour to places like the Yangmei Ancient Town, Vietnam Border and Detian Waterfall. Moreover I really enjoyed the hospitable service from the staff, especially those from the Executive Lounge like May, Jennifer, Lam, Janus, Yvette, Dwight, Rebecca and Janus. Both May and Jennifer were very helpful in providing me with ideas on places to visit and how to get there, so overall it made my stay in Nanning very enjoyable indeed. Moreover Nanning is the main city of the China-ASEAN alliance and is an underrated place to visit, as it will continue to be even more developed in the near future, for example the China- ASEAN Financial Town is more or less completed and waiting for occupancy, and the city now have 3 metro lines operational and another 3 more to be completed by the end of 2020 or early 2021. Hence this is a place to come and visit soon, and to book a stay in this hotel for a...
