Check in was chaotic, but front desk staff were friendly. We ended up waiting an hour for our room to be cleaned. We made use of the outdoor kids waterpark (at extra cost) and my daughter enjoyed that. When we finally arrived at our room we were disgusted to find the room smelt of smoke. This put us off immediately. The room is nice overall though. Breakfast was a nightmare!!! We had no where to sit and ended up sitting in the kiddies room. I waited in line for some potato wedges and a lady pushed in-front of me and literally took all the potato wedges leaving me with nothing. I tried to confront her, but she ignored me and walked off with her overloaded plate of potato wedges. I waited some more hoping it would be restocked, but it never came! Lines of people just loading their plates like it was the last day on earth. Leaving me and my family with some rice and stale eggs and three slices of watermelon. I did not even get a cup of coffee. The scenes at breakfast were chaotic! Bear in mind I paid extra money for breakfast and received the minimum of that. I have never seen anything like that before in my life. So long and short of this whole experience, we will not be returning to this hotel after this mess. This is also the second time Crown Plaza has failed in delivering what they so proudly advertise. My family and I have left hungry(Literally) and NOT...
Read moreWe wanted somewhere that was more.like a resort hotel in Qingdao. When we picked the hotel, we realised it was a little isolated, but did not realise how much.|The interior of the hotel looks lovely but a quick walk around the back of the hotel shows it is looking tired.|The check-in experience was very poor. They seemed rushed off their feet although not overly busy, and rushed everything- they took no time to really welcome guests or be clear in their needs. A major part of my booking was overlooked and it took a call to the duty manager to correct this.|Similar theme in other parts of the hotel. The Chinese restaurant served good food, but again, the staff seemed rushed and did not give great service. One thing I really hate in a hotel is when you leave a deposit against a card and yet they still ring to the reception before letting you charge to your room- makes you feel you are trying to run off without paying! |The rooms were very nice and the breakfast buffet was extensive. Definite saving graces.|If you take the sea walk behind the hotel, towards the main road, there is a lovely 'Beer Street' area that is a lively spot at night. Wish we had known it was there earlier.|Overall, it is really the staff that let...
Read moreThe hotel is located in a very nice place, but, if you are planning to visit the center of Qingdao it will take around one hour driving. The hotel has not private beach, like almost all the hotels in Qingdao, and is almost 7 minutes driving to the closest public beach. It’s very nice an convenient to stay with children. The personal were very helpful and polite. Their attitude has covered many deficiencies that the hotel has. The outside swimming pool cleanness, which is designed as a small waterpark for children is below average. Due to the water being very shallow and heat up fast , the amount of mold on the tiles is less than ideal , when children are playing and stirring the water all the black bits start to float around and it is not pretty to see . The children play area is full of cigarettes butts buried on the sandbox and you could find some electric cables sticking out. To use the outside swimming pool( children splash area ) located inside the hotel park, we were asked to pay an extra fee. The breakfast is good and almost all the empty vessels were refilled often, but the capacity of the restaurant is well below the amount of guests lodged...
