We booked 2 sea view rooms and were checked in by Daisy who welcomed us with a smile. We requested for a high floor and even though the hotel was quite empty with perhaps 20 to 30% occupancy, we were given 3rd floor out of 7 floors which is of no use as these rooms are more pool and tree view than beaxh view and there are too many tree between the hotel and the beach covering the whole view. We were asked to pay extra for the same room on the 6th floor which had a better view, not right, but we still had to go for it for even a half decent view. Though rooms were of decent size with comfortable beds made for a good nights sleep were a huge plus and large bathrooms were welcomed. I was asked for a deposit of RMB5,000 on my credit card which is too steep and I have never made such a deposit in all my stays around the world ever! Weird, yet, I had to block it on my credit card.||The breakfast however, was very limited and mainly focused on pork, it was like everything had pork in it, the seafood fried rice too!! It wasn't need but was added anyways. We had to request vivin at the reception to provide us at least 2 option of vegetarian as my mom was vegetarian and were obliged just for the next day with it. The days after that it was all about pork again!||Swimming pool was ok but it had no bar so that was a bit of a downer. Beach is connected to the hotel and was quite clean. The staff took care of our benches which were unlocked for us when we wanted and locked as soon as we leave.||Restaurant downstairs has a great margarita pizza which was a huge plus for us. Jimmy who served us was brilliant. But this being an Anantara property they did not accept my Discovery membership number for points. I do think they are in the process of letting the Anantara franchise go, hence, the confusion on the internet.||KFC and a supermarket are a short walk opposite the hotel which was a plus too.||On checkout Amber was quite swift.|Overall, a decent stay... I would surely not be coming back but it's not too bad to stay here once to experience the serenity...
Read moreWe have spent 1 week family vacation at Anantara Sandy Beach resort. We booked 2-Bedroom-Family Pool Villa. We stayed end of September / beginning of October 2018.||The reception people were nice and helpful, especially the duty manager was very helpful. Unfortunately this were the only staff speaking english. All other staff does not understand English which is not normal for international 5-star Hotelbrand.||The food in the restaurant - we tried room service - was worse compare top small outside Chinese restaurant. The taste was not that good but prices were more than double.. Therefore our recommendation is go outside. Some small restaurants just opposite the street.|The breakfast was ok, let’s say 4-star. The staff does his job but nothing more. ||The Villa was very spacious. But it was not too clean.|The Hotel is around 5 years old but it looks much older and many things might need maintenance or renovation.|It is typical Chinese, they do not pay too much attention to keep the best conditions as long as possible.||The beach was directly connected to the resort, no street in between. There were only 8 places belongs to the hotel but lots of trees giving shadows. |Unfortunately on our first day the beach was so dirty, looks like not cleaned for a month, no way go inside the water. After claiming by Video and asking if their kids should play there it was totally cleaned next day. Than it was good besides some stones inside the water.||The pool was normal, nothing special, but clean.||Towels were available at pool and beach at any time.||The season was perfect, all the time 28-30 degree which is perfect for middle European people with little kids.||The place is very calm and therefore not suitable for parties, mainly fit for family with little kids or couples who just want to relax.||Overall, we will not go there for this price level as it is max. 4-star, or even 3,5-star.|If the staff and management do not care it will be worse every year which will be a pity since location and garden...
Read moreLuhuitou seems to be in an rapid decline. While individually the staff are great they seem very short staffed and service was slow. For example cleaners come to room at 5pm, and we waited over 1 hour for a very mediocre dinner. 90 quai (+mandatory tip) for seafood fried rice that had very few small pieces of prawn. ||||The facilities are run down and in desperate need of renovation. The rooms are generally clean, but it has been a while since they had a deep clean, there was dirt in the corners and on the walls.||||The location is great for the beach, however, the hotel has insufficient sunbeds. Also there are few amenities such as bars or restaurants nearby. Almost all the local amenities belong to the Intercontinental hotel next door. ||||A special mention must go to the general manager, after several days of lackluster service I wanted to take a coffee from the breakfast hall to enjoy on my balcony. It is not allowed to remove coffee cups from the dining room but I wanted to get some value for my money.||||The manager chased me from the dining hall and physically started pushing me for this transgression. He snatched the cup from my hand and called the police on me! I had to explain to the police I wanted to drink a cup of coffee on my balcony. ||||I cannot believe a hotel in this price range would treat their...
