Situated at the rear of a modern, air-conditioned shopping centre, this hotel is very well located for a range of activities. It has a fantastic outdoor pool, hugely popular with families. The views from the pool look out across the sea. Nearby is a pool area bar and sun loungers. The hotel has mumerous redtaurants to suit tastes and high spenders but there is a missed opportunity for a coffee shop where simple, quick sandwich type snacks could be quickly obtained. The hotel shop was conveniently stocked....no worries for those running out of coffee, toiletries, beach/pool essentials. Open til 10pm and priced comparative to local businesses.Reception staff are extremely helpful, friendly and will go out of their way to assist. They have the all important local knowledge, so don't be worried about where to go for testing etc, they can direct you nicely. For pandemic controls there are 2 close-by: one in the local park, it is free, operates 9 to 12 and 3 to 6; the hospital one operates 9 to 6, has less queuing time, is a longer walk and costs 15¥.Pandemic measures at the hotel were excellent, showing proof of 24/48 covid testing on the local app.Security at night, Bell Boys during the day, always on hand to assist.Didi taxis pull up in front of the hotel.Rooms either view the sea or the hillside. These rooms have ensuite shower and toet, sink, bath and come with very comfortable beds, pitched at the right height so good orthopedics. Airconditioning in the room is higjly adjustable and very responsive.Little fridge with soft drinks mini bar and 2 free bottles of water per day. Great to store fruits, yoghurts and milk. As a British traveller, I am used to holiday hotels and the Harman, as with a lot in Sanya, has no balcony. That is a miss because I often like to sut outdoors and read but, I was on 10th floor of 17 floors so I can understand the safety aspect of no balcony.Views from this hotel are superb. Across from reception : 49ers cocktail bar, quiet, stocked well with liquors and the lovely staff make a great cocktail or mixer. Air conditioning and sublimated lighting make thus a cosy, intimate and quiet venue; there are 2 eating areas both selling Chinese foods, one seemed to cater more for Chinese staff, sold very cheap meals of excellent quality....well worth 25RMB to have a meal with the staff. It was nothing fancy, just basic tables and chairs in a food court style setting but the meals were top notch. I fully understand why this area was popular with locals and I highly recommend it. It will seem odd walking round the back of the shopping mall to get to the main road, but from the hotel, you can cut through the mall, also beautifully airconditioned. Attached to the mall is a supermarket selling all you need and more.If you drink yellow tea (British teas), bring them with you. I failed to find even Liptons here and in China, Liptons is very common. No yellow tea anywhere, that I could locate. Hotel do provide the usual freebies but I had run out and for my 12 days, had to cold-turkey no tea. Local buses stop by the mall and you can get to the train station easily as well as Nanshan Buddhist area...bus 55...takes less than an hour...costs about 11RMB.Just a short walj from the Harman gets you to the gorgeous, quiet white sand beach and the tyrquoise sea with its gently lapping waves. Stop off at the Beachlover Bar for great views sat on the beach, food and drink as well as nightly entertainment. The choice of the Harman will not disappoint. Great for singkes, romantic couples, families and a big favourite...
Read moreWorst hotel in my 4 years in China.I booked this hotel because I saw many great reviews at first and then it was also 5 star. However after arriving in my room, I checked more intensively and found negative reviews to what I was experiencing. I got my room and it has stains on the wall and a damp smell. I asked to changed after much deliberation they showed me another room and it has the same problem (floor 15). I asked to be upgraded and side I would pay and they said there’s no room of the upgrade I want. The man told me all rooms have the stains because it’s seaside hotels but then I asked for my refund and they said let’s go look at 1 more room on the 7th floor. I did and it was the rook I asked for upgrade (that they said wasn’t available). It had no stains and the lady told me the wallpaper was new so actually the stains are not from seaside but because the hotel is simply old. And it shows. The new room was nice but the bottom of the wall had black marks and ceiling too. The room smelled of dampness, and the smoke from next door was coming into my room at night so at 1am I messaged trip.com for a refund and changed hotels literally 1am on my first night. Simply put, the rooms are not clean and the hotel is TERRIBLY old and moldy. When I arrived to my third room I split my drink and asked the cleaner to come help me clean, she said take the mop and do it yourself (and I literally did). There’s no English speaking staff, at all, luckily I’m fluent in Chinese. Above all the hotel is a safety hazard because damp and mold is bad fri you health and you shouldn’t be living in it. There is no vibe in this hotel and it really ruined my impression of Sanya. The staff were very helpful in trying to get me a new room and I appreciate it and their help, it’s not their fault hotel is falling apart. It should be a 3 star it’s not 5 star standard all. You will get sick if you stay here, it’s a disgusting hotel with mold and dirt and cleaners who don’t clean. I’m so sorry to say. One thing is that the front of desk staff & the butlers at the front of the door are really nice and helpful 🙏🏻 I originally booked 4 nights and left after the first day cause sleeping there was too bad and noisy and the damp smell was just too much. Thank you to the staff for helping me to refund and authorizing it without penalty. It is not their fault the hotel is old but the owner really needs to renovate it. Thank you to the hotel people for your good service but I will never stay here again and I really don’t recommend people to stay here with moldy old smells and stains and no real sea view in the sea sea view hotel. Also, tv is old + pool area is nice at least. Nothing was really open and not vibey...
Read moreThis hotel is not ready for guests. ||Before arrival, we attempted to book 11 nights in this hotel. We actually were prepared to spend 16 days and nights in this hotel. Online it looked and sounded very nice. Then again, Chinese five-star hotels usually have this type of problem.||We attempted to book the package which included either A cruise or a seafood buffet and we were told because we were only staying at 11 nights we could not book this 4 day & night package for one section of our stay.....where's the hospitality guys? ||We requested upgrades for the room which never happened. We were promised upgrades by the sales team, Miss Ding in particular, who said that we would have no problems at check in. this was not in anyway true.||We arrived late at night to find no drinking water nor any other beverages in our room, no 24 hour room service as professed and the service staff called us and woke u our baby after not charging us only a deposit at check in.|The breakfast was decidedly Chinese and only so-so at that. Surly noodle maker scolding Chinese guests for not getting in Q properly and continuing to complain about customers in front of other customers does not seem like five-star hotel service.||Breakfast was even MORE disappointing when I noticed there were battalions of ants swarming all over the cheese as well as the seafood counter, I decided not touch either of these items for fear of getting sick from the Amazing amount of ants teeming around the food.||We then walked through pools of water from internal flooding and went downstairs to arrange for all of our accommodations payment by credit card. We were told that there were no upgrades for us, that there was no general manager, assistant general manager, rooms manager, food beverage manager, nor any other kind of Manager on duty during the weekend. Only the lone trainees running the hotel. I find this hard to believe, especially in a new hotel.||The sales team also does not work on the weekends, miss doing is missing and uncontacted will and we are leaving.||I will also stop any payment requests from this resort which come to my credit card.||Thank you Harman Hotel for giving us the opportunity only to improve our holiday so quickly.||Don't waste you money. This place looks nice and is not suitable...
