The purpose of my trip was to attend Disney Shanghai.

Interior Rooms / Exterior Appearance:

The Courtyard Marriott shouldn't be called a Courtyard. It should have just been called a Marriott. The hotel is luxury and upper-end. The interior design of the rooms and public common areas are nothing short than amazing. The hotel is only 2 years old, so you can tell how updated everything is. The room was very clean and the bathrooms are so amazing that you never ever want to leave the shower.

Food:

The breakfast buffet is OUTSTANDING. Yes, I had to emphasize the word! They have a wide variety of food that meets both western and eastern tastes. Whoever designed the breakfast buffet really thought about their audience. The servers in the buffet are all outstanding and on point. They clean up your dirty dish within seconds, not minutes. Props out to the food manager on their training! Great employees make up a great experience. Also, If you have children, then they even have a little kids table that offers some form of a Disney movie for enjoyment. The dessert table was very well decorated and accessible for kids. I would stay at the hotel just for the breakfast buffet.

Lounge: Evening food in the lounge for Gold Members was fantastic. Be there on-time, as they do run out of the main dishes by 6 pmish. Again, the same chefs prepare excellent meals. The servers or attendants need more training in the lounge. You could have 7 dirty dishes or be thirsty before the hosts/servers ask you for another drink.

Mobility:

The hotel offers free rides to (no pickup) Shanghai Airport, Disney Shanghai (drop-off and pickup, and the subway (1 way - drop off). They do offer convenient options but I would recommend the hotel do 1 pickup from the Subway at 1 time in the evening (like 5 pm). We walked back but it would have been better if there was a shuttle to pick us up.

Localization: They speak good English at the hotel. It was a nightmare getting from the Shanghai Airport to the hotel. None of the taxi drivers spoke English and the GPS they used on their phone took them to a different location. ...

Perfect hotel if you are planning to visit Shanghai Disneyland. Free scheduled shuttle bus to/from Hongqiao Airport T2, Pudong Airport, Hongqiao Railway Station, The Bund and Kangxin Highway Metro 11 Station (Dropoff only). The rooms are spacious/comfortable and the fridge is stocked (minimally) with soda, water and two snacks. There is a robotic delivery system of food and other requested items which is really cool to see. The lobby/front desk is very inviting. The staff is so helpful even though some have difficulty with English, but there’s always someone there that fully understands and they give (you must return) umbrellas for inclement weather. There is also a shop to purchase snacks and gift items along with a kiosk and vending machine to buy other items. A kids play area is on the lobby floor. Delivery of food to rooms is not allowed, but they can meet you out side or place your items in a delivery box located outside by the smoking area. The food is great and the breakfast Buffett is plentiful even for westerners and they play cartoons and have little children seats/tables. Good luck trying to get food delivered from the outside if you don’t understand Chinese. That was by far the most frustrating thing for me as it limited me to eating food from the hotel as there are no fast food restaurants within walking distance.

My experience here was great and I would suggest it to all families with kids. Not so much for couples looking for a romantic getaway though. If you enjoy looking at trains, the metro passes right by your window if you have a room that is front facing (the windows are a little cloudy unfortunately). There were no English speaking channels which was a...

Firstly, this location on Google Maps is wrong and misleading. I cannot find a 'request edit' link on this listing, so I am including it in my review. The actual location is at 31°07'57.6"N 121°38'05.6"E, with street address No 17 Lane 3999, Xiupu Road, Pudong District, Shanghai 201315 China.

The actual location is next to "Jucheng Innovation Park," west of the 52 and southwest of "Shenjiang Elevated Rd." We were confused and slightly alarmed when the shuttle brought us to the hotel at this location, rather than the one listed on Google Maps.

Google Maps is also incorrect in the location / listing for Shanghai Disneyland.

This Courtyard by Marriott is actually an excellent non-Disney hotel near Shanghai Disneyland. It has a Free shuttle from PVG Pudong International Airport. Getting transportation from PVG to Shanghai can be difficult, but they have regular free shuttle service to PVG.

The concierge emailed me a copy of their shuttle schedule. When you arrive at PVG, look for "A3" in Parking 1, Terminal 1. The signs are not marked with "Area 3."

They also have regular Free shuttles that run to and from Shanghai Disneyland, and the Metro station.

The rooms are clean and simple, with an air purifier in the room, free bottled water daily. No bathtub, but had a rainfall shower head.

The breakfast buffet in the restaurant is so much more than expected for a Courtyard Marriott Level 1 hotel. It was amazing, and a pleasant surprise.

All the staff are friendly, although not everyone speaks fluent English. Would definitely recommend if you are going to Shanghai Disneyland, but not staying at the Disney hotels. Will be looking forward to returning...

I usually stay at the courtyard in puxi but it was sold out so I took a chance on this hotel. TLDR is its not for you if you're here on business or want to do anything other than Disney. I called their front desk originally to try to arrange a transfer from the airport. The person on the other end could understand English very well and after laughing a couple of times and saying he can't understand he hung up. I then called again a different day using mandarin and had no issue booking the free shuttle. It leaves from the T1 parking lot (zone a3). You'll see signs for A3 once you're in the parking lot. I booked a king bed but was told they were out. They then upgraded me to a family room with 2 single beds and a tent for children. I don't mind, but just a bit comical. There is no executive lounge for free food/breakfast/booze FYI. Also, there is absolutely nothing within 25 minutes walking. You must take a shuttle or a cab to the subway stop or Disney. If you're not interested in either, you're stuck with the hotel restaurant. I just ordered takeout and called it a night. Now, I totally see the appeal if you take your family to Disney. If that was my case, this would have been a baller hotel. I'm really just reviewing this through the lens of a solo business traveler.

Location wise there’s nothing much around the hotel premise except Disneyland. However, they do offer free shuttle bus for Pudong airport, Disneyland, subway station, and Shanghai New International Expo Center which is convenient as long as you plan your schedule along with the bus time ahead. Reservation is required and can be easily done through concierge staff. I was given a family room and it was spacious and tidy. Although there’s no bath tub in the bathroom, the rain shower was absolutely the best I have ever had in life. Breakfast buffet was served at 1F Pavilion restaurant and had a good selection of both Chinese and Western style food. The noodle ordered from noodle station was especially delicious and definitely worth trying. As a platinum member, I was given a complimentary fruit plate containing apple, orange, mango, banana, and a few chocolates. Also, I was offered free afternoon tea voucher for use at the lounge every day. Generally I don’t have really high expectations for a Courtyard considering its price and position in Marriott hotels. But I have to say this Courtyard has exceeded my expectations and made my stay absolutely enjoyable. Definitely will come back if I am visiting Pudong area again.
