In general staff is friendly but not smart. There is one guy whose english is quite bad so he doesn't understand quite well what you mean. I had some issues about the price at first because they promised me I could pay 3400 RMB per month (room without window), I agreed but 2 days later he told me with a smile he forgot to say this price is without water and electricity. After some arguing I still get the room for 3400 RMB (ask for a contract so that they can't ask you for more money afterwards). After that, when I asked for new towels, they said this was not included in the price so I needed to bring my own towels. Again after some arguing they agreed and I get my towels when I ask for it (hanging the 'clean the room' tag is not enough because they will pick up the used towels but housekeeping will not change them). In general, ask for everything long enough in advance because you never know what to expect (everything takes a long time and you need to ask 3 times for the same thing). Overall, the room was always clean and the location is very good (only 3 minutes walk to metro station directly to the centre of the city). Sometimes a bit noisy because of large groups who stay for one night and then continue their trip. Rooms are very hot as well and I found some glass on the ground from previous visitors. Next to the hostel there are a few very good and cheap 'restaurants' so you don't need to go far for a good dinner. ||||I also had a very bad experience during check-out. My parents visited me (I was doing an internship so I have been here for a few months), and they wanted to help me packing in my stuff because I of course had a lot. A girl whose face I've never seen before told me they weren't able to come to my room because she needed to scan their passports. She didn't understand my parents were only going to help me pack my stuff and then I was planning to check out. She kept on refusing so eventually she followed us to my room and kept on standing in front of my door while I was packing in my stuff. After that, I asked for a taxi but after (only) one calle she said there were no taxis available so I needed to walk to the main road to call a taxi myself (I had a backpacking bag and 3 luggages!!!), after again some arguing I finally got a taxi. ||||I would only recommend this place for the location near to metro line 2 which is the main metro line. If you want to stay somewhere because of the service, don't...
Read moreI booked this place as it was the cheapest place going during a national holiday... I wish I just spent more, it's been one of the worst hostels I've stayed in. ||The location isn't great. Good if you're coming from Hongqiao maybe but even then I'd recommend staying closer to the center if you're travelling. It's really far from all of the main sights, like a 30-40 metro ride. Plus a ten minute walk to the station from the hostel. ||The hostel itself is okay. Its clean. Staff are friendly. Okay if you just want a bed but I expect a little more than that from my accommodation. The beds themselves were super uncomfy- just a sponge with holes in. The bathrooms also smelt like vomit constantly. My stay wan't very comfortable. I definitely wouldn't stay here again. The location and quality just weren't worth...
Read moreBooked a private three person room (one bunk bed - top single bed, bottom double bed). The room is clean and comfortable, but it's small- ok for a few days. The bathroom is nice too, separate area for shower. The staff was very friendly and hospitable. They ordered us food at 3am!!!! The hostel is being renovated now so its very noisy in the day and the rooms aren't sound proof so its very noisy when other guests are coming/leaving. For the price and the location (7 min walk to line 2 (green line Beixinjing station) which connects to all major attractions from East to West of Shanghai) its a great place to stay and I would stay here again. Also there's no elevator and a few flights of stairs to go up in order to reach the third floor where all the rooms...
