Courtyard by Marriott Shanghai Changfeng Park — Hotel in Shanghai

I always stay with Marriott when I travel (currently a Gold member). This is the WORST Marriott I’ve ever stayed at. Long story short: I couldn’t control AC in my room. Ended up waking up at 3am/4am sweating two days in a row. Front desk wasn’t much of a help. Checked out at 4am the 2nd day, and ended up going to a different Marriott right after. Front desk told me (too late) that this building’s AC is set by a central control room, and you can’t adjust temp outside of their set range (i.e. 22-26C, or 72F to 78F). If you want your room to be at 70F for example, you’ll have to call them and hoping they’ll change it for you, and stays that way overnight.

Dunno how this hotel qualified as a Marriott. Pics look nice online, but it’s a run-down facility (i.e. holes in the roof, and… no place/bar to get a drink, except for the restaurant on the 2nd floor), and guests don’t have meaningful temperature control in their rooms.

This Courtyard is a very lovely hotel located near Honquiao Airport and away from the hustle and bustle of centeral Shanghai. The hotel buildings are beautiful, clean and the neighborhood is very attractive. There is a Spa next door as well as the requisite Starbucks and snack shop. The restaurant serves both Chinese and Western food and there is a great late night bar. The rooms are well appointed and the lounge is large enough to accommodate all the guests with a great evening food offering and cocktails. All staff at the hotel are friendly and welcoming. New hotel, hardware OK, but business center wasn't accessible during my 1-month stay because it's under renovation. Staff mostly were OK but apparently they didn't have sufficient training, at least imo it's not professional to gossip loudly in the lounge when guests were around, and I can give you more examples like this. Room was generally clean, except some hair stuck in the carpet, but they removed it after my report, and the cleaning lady came everyday and did a good job.
