In the past months I've chosen this hotel for few nights already, regards my recent stay I'm having the worst guest service. Upon my checking in Front Desk Agent didn't inform us room doesn't have toothbrush( but last time the Front Desk did inform us and she gave us toothbrush), it look likes this Front Desk Agent he is busy to answer phone calls instead of talking to us, it is very unprofessional to doing something else when assisting an IHG member, I can't even request anything just because he's busy on the phone talking to someone, for all the IHG hotels that I've stayed with it is not like this. And when I got into my room there's a bottled water has been opened and drinked by someone. I informed Front Desk this situation, there's no apologize, all they said is they will let robots deliver a new bottled water. Also I've requested the toothbrush, Front Desk said they will inform Houseman to deliver it, we've been waiting over 30 mins for the toothbrush, no one delivered, we were ready to step out going convenience store, we saw a housekeeper in the hallway, we asked her if she have any toothbrush for us, she also mentioned that Front Desk never tell her to deliver. We got very disappointed. And the second day, we had another reservation, the room key is deactivated, so we have to carry all bags going down to Front Desk to update our key, we standing in the line over 10 mins, two of the Front Desk Agents were helping same group, the group is standing in two lines, so one line is wild opened for other guest, one of the agent just looking at me and ignore me, not even apologize to guest standing there waiting for so long, I'm very disappointed for my recent stay. Read moreI have stayed in numerous properties in Shanghai over the last 20 years. This is my second time to stay in the Holiday Inn JinXiu hotel. One of the best and most friendly hotel staffs in the world. Excellent rooms and a great breakfast. When I come back to Shanghai, this is where I will stay and recommend it to my company to book everytime visitors arrive. I want to mention several key staff personnel to give them individual praise but every staff member was great to work with the 18 days I was in the hotel. First at Breakfast. Serena who quickly learned my name and was ready for bing ( ice ) for my 64 oz insulated Texas Mug. Also Beaky in the Executive Breakfast Lounge was perfect with the timing for serving me. Finally, Link was the best at making my eggs each morning. Within a few days, he knew exactly how to make my eggs perfectly and warm up the bacon on the grill for me. Breakfast was a great experience but even better with these two wonderful ladies and an excellent short order cook each morning. Finally, Sunny was just an excellent host in the Executive Lounge on the 25th floor. She was always attentive to the needs of my customer or co-worker who joined me for drinks / snacks. All of the staff on the 25th floor was great but Sunny just helped end the day on a very happy and positive note. This Holiday Inn JinXiu is just a great hotel for the price in Shanghai. If they could only put in a McDonalds within walking distance ( only a 15 min $4 taxi ride ! ) it would be perfect. However, I had a bad breakfast experience though that I just want to flag... Firstly, paid to have access to the Executive Lounge, but on a weekend (Sunday morning) this is shut so had breakfast on the ground floor. Not a big issue (although paid for lounge access), but after being seated realized there was a Executive Lounge area on the ground floor, so would have preferred to have been seated there simply as quieter and perhaps the person seating me should have realized from my room number maybe? After this I also had the issue of my place being cleared before I was finished - there was still a full cup of tea, juice and some food on the table... It happens occasionally, but really shouldn't have been cleared so quickly as restaurant was not short on empty tables at all. The biggest issue for me is tea when first poured is too hot, so it would have been about the right temperature when I wanted to drink it after eating, which I like, so quite annoying and as it happened was in a rush to go to the office. The staff tried to make it better to be fair and I appreciated, but it really shouldn't have happened.
