I have a massive complain on this.
For years of business travel, I have never encountered such issue and I must raise this out.
On the first night of my arrival, the hotel system was down and the front desk was unable to operate without a computer. (I.e. no check in could be performed)
Upon asking if they have a contingency plans for such events, they simply said: they don't.
As time passed, the line gets longer and longer and it was out if control at some point where everyone swarms towards the front desk without order. Worst of all, no one to help the poor fellow at the front desk. His co-workers just hide behind door doing god knows what they can possibly do. (Seriously poor management skills there)
After almost 2 hours I was finally able to check into a room which i didn't book into for obvious reasons. (Single traveller was given a two bed bedroom)
On the second night, to my disbelief, the room had strange happenings for two consecutive nights which I cannot explain and does not sound logical at all.
On the first night: I hear man whispering in my ear (I'm all alone in the room) gust of wind and extreme chills (Ac was turned off) gust was in the opposite wind direction of the AC. bed rocking and squeaking sounds (yup, the empty bed next to me).
On second night: closet lights turns on and off for no reason. You can hear the clicking sounds. (triggered by the door closing mechanisms when the closest doors were open at all times) bathroom lights turns off without any switches being triggered (no, there's no motion sensors tingger)
I freaked out on the second night. I called to have my room changed but there was no room of single bed available.
There was one king bed in the room of the same size (solitude bed in empty space), I rejected as it sounded way too creepy to be in any large rooms anymore.
On the third day, I finally had my room changed and I managed to have some...

The staff were super friendly, and check-in was quick and smooth—no waiting around, which really impressed me.|The Room:|I stayed in their Comfort Room. It was simple but stylish, with soft, calming colors. The bed was amazingly comfy—it's their famous Four Points bed. Hopping into it made all the day's aches disappear, and I slept like a baby. Loved the high-quality toiletries, and they even included bathrobes and slippers—nice little touches!|Food & Drinks:|The hotel’s breakfast spread was awesome—lots of choices, both Chinese and Western. They brought it around on a cart right to your table, and I especially loved the Shanghai-style soup dumplings. I also tried the lobby lounge: chill vibe, and their coffee was top-notch—beautiful latte art and rich flavor. Perfect spot to unwind between work or outings.|Location:|The hotel’s right inside Daning International Commercial Plaza in Jing’an. Super convenient—tons of restaurants and entertainment nearby. It’s close to the Shanghai Circus World too, and getting downtown by bus or train was a breeze.|Fitness & Fun:|The gym was well-equipped and spotless. Read moreIn a phone conversation, staff needed me to spell my name THREE times to get it right. My name is one of the oldest and most common English name, this is rather annoying to have reception staff with such poor English standard in an 'international hotel'.
Check in staff was slow and inexperienced. A supervisor was actually training the staff on the spot and had to keep her guest waiting. This is ridiculous, isn't it?
Staff at concierge was TOTALLY UNHELPFUL AND RUDE! We needed an umbrellla. He indeed asked us to get the umbrella from the room. OK, we went back to the room and double-checked and found out that there was no umbrella in the room. He then told us that there's nothing he can help. However, when we warned him that we want to see the duty manager, he gave us a really rude facial expression before going into the back room to 'find' an umbrella. The most "laughable" thing is that he succeeded in getting us AN UMBRELLA at the end. Why is the hustle necessary??? Being rude and unhelpful is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. How did the hotel train staff???
Hot food in the breakfast are all COLD! Eggs, sausages, hush browns - all COLD!! AND, the staff were all sleepy and unmotivated. Shouldn't we expect a smile back or a 'welcome' when we were seated and say thank you.
This is a totally disappointing experience. And the most worrying thing is that we're actually staying for another TWO MORE WEEKS in this hotel with these utterly...
