We arrived in the afternoon and proceeded to lounge for check in. Being a platinum member we requested for upgrade. First the lady at the counter said sorry as no room is available for upgrade, when we showed her online availability she called the manager who also first tried not to upgrade later upgraded to suite. The room was nice and spacious but in the room it was very hot, on complaint a technician came and stated that aircon is adjusted @ 24-25 centigrade, if you want lower we need to call reception but of no use. Nobody could help us resolve the issue. As it was managements decision may be to save few RMB at the cost of guest comfort. @ lounge there was either Beef or Pork and the rice were with shrimps, when we informed that we can not eat read meat for medical reasons and allergic to shrimp, with lot persuasion we were given some chicken and alleged chicken rice ( Made with shrimps paste), which we came to know only after getting rashes. But the staff had no problem at all. Nobody help us. One more good thing about the lounge was that they keep only substandard liqueurs for consumption and only on request ( If you know or ask for better scotch) then only they bring from kitchen. When I requested they brought shivas and after pouring a drink quickly it was removed and sent to kitchen. There were fellow guest those who saw literally ran to get a drink too. When all this happened next morning we shifted to Marriott city center, which was...

Read moreShanghai Marriott Parkview Hotel is centrally located in the Jingan District, a leisurely 5-min walk from metro #1 Circus City Station. Across the street, a new station is being built for metro line #12. While the hotel was opened in 2013, the lobby/rooms/restaurants/gym/indoor pool are immaculate. There is a huge park across the street with pond and boating facility; and nightly water shows set to music. There are two shopping malls nearby with tea/coffee and restaurants. There is an active construction next door but we never heard any noise during our stay. We are Bonvoy Titanium members and received complimentary upgrade to a suite (#1218) during our 12-night stay. We enjoyed buffet breakfasts daily in the restaurant on first floor, and had lounge access for afternoon tea and evening snacks. The staff throughout the Marriott Parkview were friendly and always greeted us with smiles: special shoutout to Boris, the exceptional manager in the breakfast restaurant. Boris enthusiastically recommended different places to visit in Shanghai and personally delivered fresh fruits to our suite. Jamie and Muki from the front desk were helpful as well as the lounge staff on the 23rd floor. We are grateful to Boris, Jamie, Muki and everyone at the Marriott Parkview who made our stay so memorable. Well...
