I have stayed at the Haiyatt multiple times so far on business trips to Shanghai, the latest being in Apr 2014. Welcome fruits are always provided on day of check-in & 2 complimentary half-liter water bottles were also provided everyday during my recent trip!!. Room is big with good storage space for luggage and clothes but as the bed occupies most of the space, there was not enough room to walk freely inside the room. The bed is pretty big even for 2 adults! Normal TV / LCD TV in the room showed variety of channels, including 3 English move channels which was a surprise.||||The room was cleaned every day & the housekeeping team did a very neat job on that. Safety locker & mini fridge were available in the room for free. Wi-Fi was available for free in the room but sometimes experienced poor connectivity. Couple of times, had to get help from the hotel IT manager to get the Wi-Fi connection working, but once it connected it was fast.||||Bathroom was spacious but observed that the layout was not standardized across different rooms of the same category, though the room tariff was the same. Some bathrooms had bath tub while others had only shower within glass enclosure. Was happy with all the toiletries provided inside the bathroom & these were also replenished on daily basis by housekeeping. ||||Tea bags, coffee sachets & electric kettle are provided to make hot beverages as you please.||The one area of concern was the lighting inside the room which I always found to be dull! Even gave written feedback to improve the lighting, but not sure if it was addressed. The rooms don't seem to be fitted with heaters, so it was bit difficult to manage in months like Jan, Feb where temperatures hover close to 0 deg or even go sub-zero.||||The buffet breakfast was pretty good as even a vegetarian like me had more than enough choices to enjoy a solid breakfast before going to work :) Never had lunch there, but had dinner few times and found rates to be very expensive. However, the service was good and all the staff were friendly to the guests.||||The receptionists & few of the restaurant staff spoke decent English so that communication was not a big problem. I can tell this because of experience at hotels in places like Suzhou, Taizhou where communicating with the hotel staff was challenging!||||Regarding location of the hotel, it's not a fancy place without nothing much to do after work in the evenings. Main reason I chose to stay there was the hotel was very close to my office and saved me plenty of time which would have been spent otherwise in commuting to & from work.||The hotel is also about 10-12 mts walk to nearest metro train station and helped me since I mostly took the train to explore Shanghai with maps, which were available at the hotel reception.||||Swimming, pool, gym, health conscious pillows are also other facilities offered to the guest while massages were also available but found rates to be expensive & never tried it.||Judging from my multiple stays & the busily crowded buffet breakfast area, can say that it's a popular hotel for mostly business travelers although I could also spot several families...
Read moreI've stayed at this hotel several times in the past and nothing has changed. TV now has been upgraded but doesn't get many channels...BBC is about it in English, when you get it. Still noisy as the latches in the windows are not working. AC works in some rooms, many does not. I changed rooms 3 times and still had issues. no clocks.||Not many Americans anymore, nor Aussies as in the past. Maybe it's because the breakfasts are geared to the Asian culture. Have no clue how to cook an egg Western style. I can't eat raw bacon.||Spa is still beautiful but the jets don't work in the Jacuzzi. broken tiles, mold, are not pleasant.||Carpet is filthy in the public areas. Big stain on my carpet in the room. No more mini bar nor any snacks. 2 bottles of free water per day then you pay for the other 2. No sugar, no plain coffee, 2 only tea bags and no spoons.||Had dinner one night we were the only people there. I ordered a pizza with salami and pepperoni. It came out with bologna...only, in chunks, and had catsup for the sauce. Horrible beyond belief.||Sheets were not changed for 3 days, so I called and had them changed. Same with broken TV. Even left notes at the front desk that went ignored.||Other properties are OK according to my traveling associate, this one needs a...
