Well, this hotel should be a Marriott, but it isn’t really. At least this was the least best stay I had at a Marriott hotel. It seems like they renovated an old business hotel and used cheap sub-contractors with cheap parts to do the job. There is no real design language in the hotel, everything feels like they just winged it. The room had everywhere signs of bad Labour, pencil stances where holes should be drilled, the amenities feel very cheap. The toilet is for instances is new bit of very poor quality. The whole experience is rather equivalent to a 4* business hotel for 300-400 RMB the night than a 5*Marriott for 750 RMB. When sitting in the lounge the staff asked for mandatory consumption, despite being a hotel guest. The only free seating availability was a small couch in the gigantic foyer which felt just weird. They have fake books of Gucci and Prada in the Reception area which just feels unnecessary pseudo glamorous, adding to the weird vibe. There is also still a bad smell of the renovation lingering in the air. The plus points of the stay were good cleanliness, great water pressure in the bathroom, a clean and well maintained swimming pool. We cut our stay short. Do not recommend if you value your money or expect Marriott quality. PS: the worst was the cheap air conditioning of the room: it was some no name equipment which was just blasting cold air and would not keep a certain...
Read moreI suppose one cannot go wrong with the Marriot brand..Excellent service and amenities.Excellent large room. Air-conditioning and hot water worked perfectly.Good selection of tea/coffeeWide selection at breakfast. Good coffee (Justin coffee machine - not heard of before but good selection)Not so good, can improve :-Lobby was always crowded - it could be because of some ongoing corporate event.. But it lessened the experience, due to the crowds and no availability of empty seating at lobby level. The car entrance to the hotel is good.. But the exit is very narrow and crowded due to parked delivery trucks, garbage bins etc. My DiDi had to navigate quite a bit to get out of the hotel and get...
Read moreMarriott Shanghai Yangpu Riverside is a bit far away from the city center at the edge of the east core, about 1km from the closest subway station (line 12 on Ning Guo Road), though you can ride bus 8/538 for one stop to cut the walking distance to about 400m. Each morning, there is a complimentary transfer shuttle every 30 min from 8am to 10am that runs from the hotel to the Dalian Subway station. |As a Bonvoy Titanium Elite, I was upgraded to a mini-suite, the room has a small writing desk and a sitting area.|I like the the evening hors d’oeuvres, and the breakfast. The highlight is the xiaolong bao, the spicy shrimp, the milk ball, crispy fish, spring roll and lobster chip in...
