Wyndham Bund East Shanghai — Hotel in Shanghai

My family was generally unimpressed with this hotel. The rooms were clean although the replacement of towels was spotty. Oddly, the windows would be open when I returned to my room. My father-in-law had difficulties with the TV remote. It turned out to be an old battery: the service tech who came to the room said he would fixed it later that night when he was less busy. The food at the breakfast cafe was faily good quality, a combination of Asian and Western options. (The "composite pickles" were a hit with my newphes). As always, if you or one of your party is allegic to peanuts, be very careful of cross contamination. The main complaint was the poor front desk service. Amazingly for an international hotel almost none of the front desk staff spoke much English. (A notable exception was a woman named Reta who helped me to find a local business that I had to go to). The hotel stated that it had a business centre but it didn't. It had a computer at the conceriege desk but the conceirge didn't speak English so it was fairly impossible to use the Chinese language browser. As a result, I couldn't check in to my flight at the hotel. The hotel gym was open from 10am to 10am, so we were told; not useful. I would recommend another hotel if you have a choice. This...

Location not that good, but it's OK for my family because we have tour coach. ||Food is ok and room is clean. But the horror is the water heater is not functioning well! This is during winter time! ||Worse service is when you told the front desk the night before to have the repair done the next day, nothing is done and the service staff is simply appalling for not telling the relevant department to do the follow up. Then my family have to wait a long while for the technicians to come to our rooms (2 rooms have the water heater problems, so you can guess how many more rooms have the same crappy problem ?!?!) to repair the heater. En mi última visita a Shanghai estuve alojada en éste hotel dos veces (al principio y al final del viaje a China).||En ambas ocasiones el hotel me pareció un hotel grande. No más. Está más menos bien decorado, y en principio te da la sensación de hotelazo, que pasados los días te vas dando cuenta de que no. Las habitaciones son grandes, y los colchones muy buenos. La limpieza de la ropa de cama es satisfactoria. Pero cierto es que no se corresponde la 'fachada' con lo que se espera de él. En mi caso, en la primera habitación el wc estaba atrancado, y eso es bastante asqueroso. También he de decir que se solucionó rápido. En la habitación de mi colega, que era de fumador, estaba francamente asquerosa. Deteriorada a más no poder. Y en mi última visita tuve la fortuna de que me dieran una suite en el penhouse (planta 32), es más amplia y llamativa. Sólo que no tienes que fijarte en los detalles. Aunque me da que ésto es característico de China en general. Es decir, la habitación muy guay, si no te fijas en que la tabla de planchar la abres y se viene abajo, o que hay un moco pegado en la pared junto a la cama, y manchas sospechosas dentro del cuarto del retrete. La ducha, que pintaba bien con doble alcachofa...fracaso. Pides una cerveza a la habitación y te la quieren cobrar en la puerta de la habitación?? Y qué decir que tienen a personal en sitios tan poco frecuentados como la información turística, o la entrada a la piscina (por cierto, con termas romanas vacías y mal olientes) que no tienen ni papa de hablar inglés. Tres días nos costó poder reservar una excursión!||Adicionalmente, el club wyndham del ático, siempre está vacío y apagado, el lobby bar es lo más triste de bar que he visitado en mi vida (un bar en silencio absoluto donde pidas lo que pidas, no hay de nada...) y para colmo cierra a las 10. Vamos, que como hotel de trabajo, para no tener que ir a ningún otro lado...imposible.||El restaurante chino, puede pasar. Pero no va ni un Europeo. Esto también que se interprete al gusto.||Alejado o no... bueno, ni lejos ni cerca. Depende de la excursión que te peque el taxista. Pero si es más menos rápido, puede ser unos 15 min (31 Rmb) o si te quiere hacer la pirula infinita, hasta los 80 rmb puedes llegar... en fin, que yo me iría a un hotel más céntrico, quizá en el Bund, y que al menos tenga una sensación mayor de hotel con todo lo que puedas necesitar.||En comparativo positivo, el precio. Pero no me volveré a alojar...
